At $60 this IS THE ONE! You can shop around and see that you can pay much more for half the power of the GUM PRO with its 4400 mAh Lithium Ion capacity.

The GUM PRO is COMPACT and the build quality is excellent. Use your own USB cable that came with your device to connect your device to the GUM PRO to charge it and run it. The GUM Pro comes with it's own Mini USB cable to charge the GUM PRO. If you have a Mini USB connector to your device you can use this Mini cable to connect your device to the GUM PRO.

I have no need for a car charge because I have the GUM PRO - enough power to charge an IPhone 3Gs 2.5-3 times. I NEVER worry now that my IPhone battery will run out!

I see that others have ordered the GUM PRO and received a case for the GUM PRO. I did not. I purchased a Lowepro Spectrum 10 bag. It is a perfect size for the GUM PRO and a standard IPhone USB cable in the main compartment. The front pocket holds my earbuds.

Charge the GUM PRO when you receive it - it will take a few hours to get it up to full charge.

Seemed like Great product when I bought it over a year ago for my HTC Touch Pro 2 (TP2) phone. The short USB cable (provided with the PP-08) with the PP-08 combined with a belt pouch that could hold both the TP2 (in small side pocket) and the TP 2 make it ieasy to have the TP 2 charging while it was on my belt. I could run Skype in Europe for a couple days instead of around 3 hours.

The PP-08 (Gum Pro) USB power source worked fine for my 2 weeks trip to Europe and for a couple months of domestic travel afterward. It got set aside for about a month and in prepping for another trip. I found that it would no longer take a charge. FYI, the power switch was found in the "on" position on the pp-08. The status LED's were dead no matter what position the switch was in ( with or without a source of power connected to the PP-08), I tried a few different sources of USB power to try to charge it back into existence including, PC, laptop and a very good AC to USB adapter capable of the full 1A output limit of USB but no luck. I set the PP=08 aside in the junk pile after owning it for ~3 months. Seemed at the time like it could not be opened to even check for loose wire or a replaceable battery. For most consumers the next step is the trash can or trying to exercise warranty. I don't know if it had more than 90 day warranty and had tossed the box.

Anyway, with some time time on my hands this morning, I found that the PP-08 could be opened by peeling the sticker and removing 2 small screws. FYI, I am an electrical engineer and easily capable of doing most repairs. Inside are 2 easily accessible but soldered in Samsung ICR18650 Li-Ion batteries. You can get them for $8 to $11 each on the WEB.

This is the best secondary / extra battery I've found for use with my iPhone. Some people might not like the short cable you use to connect it to an iPhone (USB on the battery side, iPod connector on the iPhone side), preferring something that connects directly to the iPhone (like those Richard Solo batteries), or is designed as a case. I found the direct connection to be irritating because it requires a lot of care to make sure the fragile connection point doesn't get bent. The battery cases make an iPhone really bulky, which I _hate_. And all of them are tied to the iPhone / iPod by the Apple-specific connector.

Instead, this battery pack is just an efficient block of battery, and the connection is a simple cable. The battery and my iPhone can sit in a coat pocket together while the phone recharges, and I don't have to worry about moving them wrong, etc.

What's even more useful, the battery pack can recharge more than just an iPhone or iPod, it can recharge _anything_ that charges with a USB cable. I've used it to recharge my Garmin GPS while in a rental car where I didn't have my car charger. And I can use it to recharge my Jawbone bluetooth headset. All you need to do is use the right USB cable, you plug it into the battery just like you'd plug it into your computer, or the wall adapter. It should work with any device that charges from a USB connection, which makes this the most flexible secondary battery I know of.

This battery pack is the BOMB! I checked out iLounge to see their ratings before I bought a battery extender. It worked just as they described. You get three iPhone charges on one gum pro charge. I was so pleased I got one for my sister for her iPhone.

I purchased this external battery after reading reviews and making comparisons between external battery packs versus back up batteries built into the iphone cases. Although the back up batteries built into iphone cases have the "comfortable/compact" factor, I went with the JustMobile Gum Pro because it was able to charge my iphone 3gs JUST a bit more than 3 times before needing a re-charge. With my iphone 4, I usually charge it twice "and then some" before re-charging the Gum Pro which is totally acceptable for what I need it for. To charge the Gum Pro it requires a USB to mini-USB adapter which most everyone has these days. To charge the iphone 3GS or 4, just use the apple charging/sync cable to/from the battery pack. Sometimes I place this external battery with sync cable attached to the iphone in my pocket because I need to and though I'm cautious about not tweaking/breaking the sync cable at its attachment points, it is definitely doable. I'm definitely happy with this purchase and would purchase it again if needed. The Gum Pro still seems to hold its charge after 6 months of use and is SUPER compact that I can just throw it in my laptop bag for work or keep it in my pocket. I researched many products prior to purchasing this, though the Gum Pro was best with regards to ability to charge the iphone multiple times on a single charge and portability w/o need for additional cables other than the iphone sync cable.

(Just FYI, I didn't do "Controlled" tests of the iphone i.e. completely draining it before recharging, however it definitely had less than 10% battery life prior to re-charging using the Gum Pro)
