Peter Falk, at his best,
This review is from: Just One More Thing: Stories from My Life (Hardcover)
This book deserves more than five stars: it is Peter Falk at his best... the great actor can entertain in many roles.. as actor, as artist, as author. He has a lot of interesting stories to tell. And he does it in a brilliant way. He brings us a lot of interesting stories - about his life and work. No doubt, Peter Falk is one of the greatest!

A life as funny as his work...,
By
This review is from: Just One More Thing: Stories from My Life (Hardcover)
Peter Falk has written the ultimate autobiography, although Mr. Falk himself insists that it isn't an autobiography. The book is written in short chunks, each a hilarious anecdote from his life, which would make it very easy to put down between stories--except that it is so much fun that you can't put it down.
Visit pre-Castro Cuba, Tito's Yugoslavia, and Cold War Russia, all through the eyes of the detective in the rumpled raincoat.

Entertaining Vignettes from an Interesting Life,
By
This review is from: Just One More Thing: Stories from My Life (Hardcover)
The book reads like Columbo wrote it. It has anecdotes with unexpected punchlines. The understatement is deceptively intelligent. There are signature illustrations that show talent in the visual arts. Falk has traveled widely and has had many unique adventures. As an actor Falk likes to develop his character along with writers and directors. He tells us how he re-writes lines and finds ad libs that work. He's rejected jobs because the character wasn't real, and he gets enthusiastic about scripts with a well constructed character. He names the talented actors and directors he's enjoyed working with and writes some interesting vignettes about Brando (never heard this before!), Dunaway, DiLaurentis and others. Columbo, as we iconize him, is Falk's creation from the crumpled coat to the battered Peugot. The reader will enjoy this time with Falk, but won't learn much about him personally. His childhood is represented by a few high school tales. He talks fondly of two wives, the first one just vanishes from the text. You learn he has 2 daughters through a photo. But we learn that Falk is an adventurer, with a positive attitude who makes long term friends. The book does not purport to be an autobiography, merely a set of stories, and in this, it meets its goal.

If you enjoy Peter Falk you will enjoy this book
It is written in a way that reminds you of his bumbling character. THe stories are anything but bumbling though. All stories are written in short segments. You'll laugh.

I found this book to be very entertaining and it was a light read. Peter Falk wrote an excellent book about his life, mixing in just the right amount of homour in it. I highly recommend this book to anyone that has enjoyed Peter Falk.

Peter Falk doesn't quite tell all,

This review is from: Just One More Thing: Stories from My Life (Hardcover)
This is not a straightforwad autobiography, but a collection of anecdotes, and you may wish that there were more details about Peter Falk's long and interesting life.
However, the stories in this book are interesting, and most are funny, and you will learn a lot about Mr Falk from reading this. My favourite story is of how he was persuaded to make a film for Roumanian TV to reasure the people of Roumania that the government was not witholding episodes of 'Columbo' from them. And I loved the story of how he came to not appear in 'The Godfather'. I was delighted to learn that the raincoat he wears in 'Columbo' is his very own, not a prop, and hangs in his closet. Although it would have been nice to have more details, this book is great fun to read.

I have never written a review before, but felt complelled to write one for this book. Any fan of Peter falk will love it. A series of short antidotes about his life, a touch of humor with each one. I have read hundreds of books this is the only one I finished in one day!! I will not tell what's in it, I don't like to spoil it, you need to read about this very wonderful actor we all know as "Columbo". It truly is a great read.

First, I am biased. I have seen every Columbo episode at least three times. I heard Peter Falk on KLOS in Los Angeles talking about this book and I bought it. I am a lover of autobiographies but this is more fun than that; it is stories from his life, or in some cases short anecdotes. It is a fast read and I loved it. Enjoy!
