what a fun book! peach was a cutie, you could feel how much she cared about the people in her life and how much she wanted things to work out for them. i liked that she wasn't a whiny complaining heroine down on herself. instead she was confident and a breath of fresh air to be around. adam was sexy!!! i go for the shy intellectual type maybe that is why i liked him...

3.0 out of 5 stars Funny follow up to "Plum Girl"

With her perky attitude and need to fix everyone else's problems, it is surprising that she has a non-existent social and romantic life. 4.0 out of 5 stars fine amateur sleuth chick lit tale, May 4, 2005
This review is from: Just Peachy (Paperback)
In Boston, bubbly optimist creative consultant Peach Kelley enjoys being little miss sunshine; her friends and co-workers think she lives a charmed golden life as she always sees the cup filled. Her upbeat outlook on life makes her popular with her peers at Millennium Gift Baskets. She is especially good at assisting others with blind dates although her own social life is nonexistent at least when it comes to men.

Peach arranges a blind date for sad sack office accountant Dennis Emberson, a single father with a teenage daughter. She anticipates "Pig Pen's dad" to have the time of his lihe and perhaps even fall in love and looks forward to the post game report, but Dennis apparently vanished. Peach accompanied by the new network administrator, hunk Adam Quinlan begins investigating the disappearance. However, someone wants her to back off and threatens to harm her if she persists. Worse she finds more danger with Adam at her side as she is half in love with him although he has his own woes to deal with even if he is very attracted to the animated pain in the butt and heart Peach.

Jill Winters latest fruity tale (see RASPBERRY CRUSH and PLUM GIRL) is an amusing romantic suspense with the emphasis on the humor and the romance. The lead protagonist is much more than JUST PEACHY as she keeps the fine tale together. Her counterpart Adam raises her hormone level while also making her concerned for breaking office fraternization rules and more so potentially her heart. Though Peach's Pollyanna outlook is too difficult to handle before caffeine, fans will enjoy this amateur sleuth chick lit combine that proves this is an author for all seasons.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book, October 18, 2005

This review is from: Just Peachy (Paperback)
I read Raspberry Crush and loved reading it so much I decided to read more by this author. I was not dissappointed. The author did a great job creating sexual tension between the characters so that, even though it was 2/3 through the book when they kissed, it was worth the wait. The light mystery is fun and although not realistic (as a murder mystery novel) provides interesting motivation for the characters in the book. I loved it! I can't wait to read more by this author. I highly recommend this book to people who enjoy contemporary romance novels by this and similar authors.

5.0 out of 5 stars Romance, mystery, sex & comedy!, May 15, 2005
This review is from: Just Peachy (Paperback)
This book had it all for me. It was a fast-paced, sexy romantic comedy with many suspenseful twists. Peach Kelly and Adam Quinlan (known to his friends as "Quin") couldn't be more different, but when they come together sparks fly. Peach is good natured and perky, likes to help people, while Adam keeps to himself more. He is kind hearted but more reserved, shy, a bit more serious. The two become close friends nonetheless and the dynamic between them is a lot of fun to read. They joke around a lot; Adam is often bemused by Peach's teasing and her assertiveness, and Peach thinks Adam is probably the most mysterious guy she's ever met.

The story takes a fascinating turn when their co-worker, Dennis, a "sad sack" of a divorced accountant, goes missing under some unusual circumstances, which leave Peach feeling partly responsible. As she tries to uncover the mystery of what happened to Dennis, she pulls her good friend Adam along to help her, as he has access to things at work the she doesn't, and before long, the sexual tension that crackles between them becomes too much for either to ignore....

JUST PEACHY was a unique story, with great lead characters, a spicy love story, and a refreshing and energetic brand of humor that sucked me right in. I would definitely recommend it as a fun way to spend an afternoon.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Relationship Story, May 17, 2005

Dr. Edward Dow (Pewaukee, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Just Peachy (Paperback)
This was a loose follow up to Jill Winters' first novel, Plum Girl, which focused on Lonnie Kelley. This one takes place 2 1/2 years later, focusing on Lonnie's younger sister Peach. It was good, but it didn't have the romantic fireworks of Plum Girl, Raspberry Crush or Blushing Pink.

We see a romantic build up from the beginning as Peach and Adam become close friends in the office, but not even so much as a kiss until about 2/3 of the way through the book. This one was very similar to Plum Girl in that Peach Kelley falls for a guy who is very much like Dominick, Lonnie's husband. It also had a similar background plot with something sinister going on within Millenium Gift Basket Company. Lonnie's story had a murder mystery within the law firm where she was acting as a contract temp.

Adam is lonely, trying to play referee with his parents who are living separately and contemplating a divorce. He is considering ending a five year relationship with a woman who recently took a lateral job position with her company and moved to Prague. Prior to this he had a six year relationship that ran through college. He feels he needs his space to have his freedom, but at the same time, he finds Peach irresistible. Although they are opposites in many ways, they both have big hearts.

I guess I would have rated this book higher if I had not read her prior novels first. It was a worthy effort, but not her best work. Overall, I enjoy the witty banter of Jill Winters' books and the real life angst moments where the characters come to terms with their quirks and learn to live with them.

2.0 out of 5 stars Boring, June 8, 2008
This review is from: Just Peachy (Paperback)
Sorry to report but this bored me to tears. I liked the characters, but the book dragged on endlessly and it isn't very long. This ended up in the used book pile without even being finished. Oh well.

Ever the optimist, Peach Kelley tends to be the go-to gal for her pals at Millennium Gift Baskets in times of need. With her perky attitude and need to fix everyone else's problems, it is surprising that she has a non-existent social and romantic life. She fashions herself a modern day Dolly Levy - matchmaking to her friends. But when sad sack accountant Dennis never returns from a Peach-sanctioned blind date, she feels the need to investigate.

Dragging in sexy and reluctant IT guy Adam, Peach takes him out of his conservative comfort zone as she once again dons her amateur sleuthing cap. Adam is already up to his neck in responsibility, bouncing between his dueling parents, an absent long-time girlfriend, and now his quirky pal Peach who has him suddenly seeing her in a whole new light. As he taps into the company files to find out what might have happened to the missing Dennis, sparks between the pals ignite. And danger may be lurking around the corner.

Winters' highly anticipated follow up to "Plum Girl" is a bit of a let down. With a recycled plot and a leading man bearing a striking resemblance to Dom from "Plum," the story just fell short. But it is still a funny read from a very talented author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific beach read, August 1, 2005
This review is from: Just Peachy (Paperback)
JUST PEACHY is chock full of romance, mystery, comedy, and originality. There were various offbeat characters in this book but I enjoyed them all, especially Peach's roommate BeBe and co-worker Nelson. And Peach and Adam of course who burn up the pages when they finally give in to their feelings for each other (it is well worth the wait!!) This is my first book by Jill Winter but I will be looking for more. I don't normally read "romance" and in fact didn't even know this was one until I was nearly done with it and enjoying it so much that I checked for similar books listed on Amazon and saw that those were all romances. But I can see it now becuase the love story is a very central part of this book. I loved it!!
