His Best. Period.,

This is, hands down, the best work of Bill Staines. 'Sweet Wyoming Home' is probably his greatest song, and that's included on this CD...If you want one single disc that represents Staine's best work, this is it. From 'Red Clay Country Blues' to 'Rye Whiskey Joe,' you won't be dissapointed...

Why so overlooked??,

This is one of my favorite Bill Staines albums! Every song gets
stuck in my head. Don't be turned off by the drab cover work so unbecoming of most Folk Legacy LP's. Not a bad song on the list. If you like Bill and other folkies like Lightfoot ect., buy this and be happy!

Pure Acoustic Joy,

This is definitely one of Bill's best albums. It is so pure-just Bill and his guitar, and a great set of tunes. I have several of Bill's albums, and this one, along with Whistle of the Jay are my two favorites. If you like pure acoustic music with memorable lyrics and tunes, you will want to pick this one up.

I bought this for my wife (and for me, too). It's one of our favorite albums from our coffeehouse days, enjoyed endlessly on cassette during road trips. I didn't realize how much I missed Staines and just how great he was and is, a fine singer and one of America's best and mot versatile songwriters. This CD will not disappoint.

Best Lyricist,

Bill Staines is one of the country's finest poets. He's more romantic than Dylan, and gentler in spirit than many. His songs have history and create a picture of America that is riveting.

BILL STAINES IS EXCELLENT!,

I had the honor of attending a concert Bill gave in 1988 in Anchorage, Alaska and it was UBER-GREAT! I bought all of his music at that concert and have enjoyed it for the last 22 years. He is so in touch with the the heart of rural America that it is such a true pleasure to listen to him and it does not decrease over time. Anyway if you long for stories of the real road, the mystery of the mines, the magic of the sunsst lovers and the heartbreak of failing in the hearsh land west of of the 100th meridian...this is your guy! BTW-do any of you recall the song about the Alaska miners with the line: "land of the midnight sun" it is off of one of the original pressed black vinyl disks-(33 rpm records)...I just can't recall that title and I lent that casette out to a friend-who never returned it. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR and get Bill's music-you will still be listening to it-22 years from now.
