3.0 out of 5 stars No Just A Rolling Stone song?
I'm confused. You title the album, "Just A Rolling Stone." You're on the show, Making the Band 4, where they show you recording the song, "Just A Rolling Stone." Day 26 even comments about how Donnie has a hit with the song. Yet it's nowhere to be found on this album. Which is a shame, because it's by far and away Donnie Klang's best song. I'd like to know what Puff...

Very Impressive Debut & its Way Beyond your Typical R&B. Just picked up the album and listened through the whole thing and i must say this is an amazing album. There's probably about 1 or 2 dud tracks, but overall almost every song on the album is a winner. The lead single is a great song but it's such a shame Diddy had to RUIN it and sing along. Diddy can stay behind the scenes but there's no need for him to do a duet on every lead single for everyone from DK, to Day26, and Donnie. He just RUINS everything. Anyways Donnie co-writes many of tracks on this album & even co-produces, he truly is talented and i am glad he has made contribution on his debut album. In a world full of boring typical R&B, Donnie has made himself stand out from the crowd. This album doesn't just have slow jams, its slow jams with addictive beats & blazing up tempo tracks that take things to a new level. There were a few songs on his MySpace page that didn't make the final cut of the album which was a bit of a disappointment. Other then that i really enjoyed this CD. It's one of the few CDs in the world where i can listen to the whole thing without skipping. I am sure over time Donnie will improve as an artist as i feel he was forced into being R&B because he is on the BadBoy label. I must say that i was disappointed with a few R&B CDs this year & it's nice to know this CD breaks the mold & balances R&B Pop very well. Usher, DK, DAY26, and a few other singers released a bunch of boring albums but this one is far from it. I am still wondering why it took Danity Kane almost 5 months before they released their 2nd single, does that make any sense? Hopefully this will not be the last time Donnie fans hear from him and I look forward to him evolving as a singer and churning out more pop songs as well. He has a great voice & should utilize all of his talents.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rolling on to Platinum, September 4, 2008
This review is from: Just A Rolling Stone (Audio CD)
I've been a fan of Making the Band since the creating of Danity Kane...then Day26 and now Donnie! Danity Kane & Day26 both have put out stellar albums (despite what some of the idiotic critics may say). So I already knew that Donnie's album wouldn't disappoint...and it didn't! "Just A Rolling Stone" reminds me of Blake Lewis's "Audio Daydream" in a sense that they both don't just limit their album to one music genre. "Just A Rolling Stone" has some Pop, R&B, Techno-Infused Dance and it works well throughout the album. I can see Donnie as a Main-stay in the music industry with the right promotion. This is a must have album!

My Top 5 Fave Tracks:

1. (Track 14) You're My Idol
2. (Track 6) Pick It Up
3. (Track 8) Catch My Breath
4. (Track 2) Take You There (F/Diddy)
5. (Track 3) Dr. Love

4.0 out of 5 stars Grows On You, September 19, 2008
This review is from: Just A Rolling Stone (Audio CD)
At first, it does appear that Just a Rolling Stone is mediocre. However, as you listen to the CD, it has very catchy and nice tunes. Among my favorite is "Catch My Breath", which is such a beautiful tribute to love at first sight and contains nice acoustic guitar sounds. This album at first glance does not have the WOW factor but does grow on you with each listening. I think this album is worth having in your collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars wow really a rolling stone, September 2, 2008

The solo contract winner of Making the Band 4 Donnie Klang's Solo Debut is finally here and with some success. I have been enjoying the night listing to every song on this album and you well not regret buying this cd. Some of my favorite tracks are "Your my idol", "Hollywood Girl", "Dr. Love" and some more. The only thing messing is the song he made called "Spank me" that was a hot track and its messing so hopefully it gets released in the near future. Buy this CD

5.0 out of 5 stars Donnies Album, September 5, 2008
This review is from: Just A Rolling Stone (Audio CD)
This is a very good first effort for Donnie and while I'm not often a fan of Diddy's artists, I found this album to be very enjoyable. It is more Club/Popish rather than RNB, but there is no need to bash the album because it is not what some people expect. It still has many high points.
I think the CD has a great flow to it and it sort of tells a story along the way with the futuristic sound Donnie was looking for. I was never really a fan of the song Take You There and I thought it was a horrible choice for the first single, but there are many songs that I think have radio play potential.

Best ones for me were
-Dr. Love
-Hollywood Girl
-Catch My Breath
-Not a Love Song
-Which One
-You're My Idol

Most other songs are solid as well. The only songs I'd probably skip are Take You There and Pretty Girls Cry. I probably enjoyed this almum more than Day26's and Danity Kane's.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just Donnie Rolling Stones with this album, September 2, 2008
This review is from: Just A Rolling Stone (Audio CD)
I like this album. I listened to it fully on Youtube. This album is more than the typical debut in possession of a few potentially successful singles. It's really a throwback to a time when albums were cohesive collections of music. He is ready to take on the world what he is made of. He is maturing as a singer, songwriter, musician, and even producer. The songs rides the line between R&B and radio-ready Pop. I hope this album will be successful.

5.0 out of 5 stars KLANG!, August 9, 2009
This review is from: Just A Rolling Stone (Audio CD)
Let me say first that I only watched some of Making the Band 4 and I never saw KLANG! performing on the show. I got Danity Kane's and Day 26 albums, but not this 1 cos I didn't even know they made it or if it had got a release. Partly what attracted me to getting this album was funnily enough some of the passionate and blindly ignorant criticism of this album. Strangely enough, I have found in my experience that albums that receive such criticism are often much better than what people say and it is just that the album is not what people expect/want it to be or are ready to hear. Many great things are not appreciated in their own time. That is definitely the case with this album. The quality of some of the production is fantastic, let's not forget that some of the best producers in the game are on the album, including No.1 man of 2008 The-Dream and the amazing Mario Winans. I thoroughly agree with another review that said this album may seem bland on first listen, but give this a few listens and you will start to appreciate KLANG!'s voice so much more. It isn't an all out belting soul sound; he ain't getting down like Prince on 'Adore', or Usher on 'Burn'. It's largely a pop album, so its appropriate that his vocals are restrained. That's not a bad thing - his voice definitely has it's own quality to appreciate and you will find yourself enjoying his harmonies and ad-libs. Like another review said, one of the major strengths of the cd is that it feels like a cohesive album and is great to listen to from start to finish. The spoken word interludes set the tone and elevate the album into the realms of a high art form - some of the backing music over these interludes is stunning. It seems to me like Diddy pressed the "off-switch" on Klang's career, and in turn, the fans of the show let him down by not supporting him enough and giving his album more of a listen. The fans seem very pre-occupied by the tracks that weren't on the album as opposed to the ones that are. Well i youtubed the missing material, and although "Spank Me" is catchy and thoroughly enjoyable, it's novelty buzz single fare - there's way better songs on this album. The song "Just a Rolling Stone" is a different proposition. This is a spectacular song which is perfect for KLANG! whose lyrics sum up the story of this album. But I ask you, where would this song fit in the album? The only logical place would be to close the album with it and lose, "The Rain" and the wondrously epic "You're My Idol". That wouldn't work. In any case, the melody of the song is featured throughout the spoken word interludes. However, I would have either released it as a stand alone single, a double a-side with "Take You There" (this would have drummed up sales. Or had it as a bonus hidden track either at the start or end of the album (like they did with David Gray's album "White Ladder" on the UK release). I like Diddy and Bad Boy ('Press Play' is an album so good it's clearly a product of 'sex, love and pain') but they let Donald J. down in a major way. They clearly thought they didn't need to promote and could ride the wave of interest of 'Making The Band' and that was lazy. SORRY THIS REVIEW IS SO LONG, but please don't hate; I just wanna stick up for KLANG! (and no I ain't his family or part of the record company). I own and have listened to hundreds of cds and this is one of my favourites! If you are ready to listen without prejudice, then buy it and idolize it! Anyway, I hear he's HUGE in Poland!

5.0 out of 5 stars I,m Impressed!!!!!!!, May 8, 2009
This review is from: Just A Rolling Stone (Audio CD)
I have been watching the show and only focused mainly on Danity Kane and Day 26 but I never really paid much to Donnie.I remember when Diddy was talking to him in the office and said your an quiet artist something like that. I think it,s true. The focused was mainly on the two groups the most.I think his music is great, people need to give him a chance. I think if he has a spin-off people will really get to know him much better. So I am looking forward to the spin-off show he was talking about during the final episode of making the band.I just listened to him and I was impressed. I never gave him an chance. I thought he was going to be mediocure but he has something special going on. I love the album. I like almost every singe track on it. Usually when I listen to albums I find myself skipping through boring or not appealing songs but I never had to on this album because the songs were catchy and grabbed my attention.
