5.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining and very enjoyable
Terri has achieved a measure of success in country music without ever becoming a major star, yet her albums are always of a high quality. This is my favorite. It has a great mix of uptempo and slower songs.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pale Imitation
After garnering solid goodwill with her debut, it would only be logical that Terri Clark would follow that set with an album following that blueprint fairly closely, which is what she does. It's too bad that the abundance of just-average material littered throughout fails to distinguish itself as anything other than a hollow shell of its' former self(the former self...

Terri has achieved a measure of success in country music without ever becoming a major star, yet her albums are always of a high quality. This is my favorite. It has a great mix of uptempo and slower songs.

Poor poor pitiful me may follow the Linda Ronstadt arrangement in general terms, but Terri's version is country, wheras Linda's version was pop/rock. All the other songs are original, co-written by Terri with various others.

Neon flame is an amusing song in which Terri explains to her man that the man she sometimes sees at the bar isn't a threat. It's a piece of fun which (like the man at the bar) is not to be taken too seriously. ...

Terri is more downbeat on Keeper of the flame, in which she senses her man is not that interested in her, but overall, this is a very upbeat album. I find it highly entertaining - and that, after all, is what music is supposed to be about.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just the same, December 18, 1999
This review is from: Just the Same (Audio CD)
This Terri Clark album proves to be both upbeat and mellow. Some sounds such as "Poor, Poor Pitful Me," and "Emotional Girl" provide the fun upbeat Terri Clark image. However there are other deeper songs on this album worth checking out too, such as "Keeper of the Flame" and "Just the Same." Whether you like the fun songs, or wanna check out the other side of Terri's personality, I think this album would be a good choice.

4.0 out of 5 stars ALBERTA -BORN TERRI CLARK PACKS A PUNCH!!!, January 3, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Just the Same (Audio CD)
This CD release of Terri Clark is a powerful showcase of her emotion-laden voice! I found her best vocal qualities within her ballads, such as "Just The Same" and "Keeper of the Flame"--her heartfelt, no-nonsense delivery of the lyrics making every word believable and the gut-wrenching emotions tangible. She draws in the listener and makes you feel as if you yourself are living the song and feeling the sincerity of the words. Likewise, her uptempo numbers, "Emotional Girl", and "Poor Poor, Pitiful Me" (an impressive take on Linda Rondstadt's original version!) pack a powerful honky-tonk country punch!

This is, and remains one of my favorite CD's. I play it at home and in my car stereo all the time. In my opinion, Terri is a rare breed of country singer, a no frills, un-cutesy, straight ahead vocalist who sings it like she means it. She will always have a permanent place in my CD collection, and I recommend her to all true country music listeners who like their country music pure and up front.

Great job Terri! Keep 'em coming!! :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD!, October 20, 2003

I have all of Terri Clark's CDs. She is a remarkable entertainer. Staying true to herself and not following others in her industry to pop, she continues to show her fans and others just why she is so loved by her fans. Terri is the epitome of womanhood in it's finest form. This is just another of her fine works.

5.0 out of 5 stars Forget Shania Twain and Faith Hill ..., August 4, 2000

... Terri Clark is the most talented (and best looking) "Diva" in country music. Her unpretentious style, deep thoughts and fun songs mixed together to make a great album. This is the style of country music I like. It would be tough to choose which album of hers is better, this one or her debut. They are both outstanding. She's truly talented. I saw her open for George Strait once, but for a lot of people there, Terri Clark was the headliner.

I love Terri Clark, and this is an excellent album! All of her songs are great on here, and my favorites are 'Emotional Girl' and Poor, Poor, Pitiful Me.' Her slower songs are pretty, too. What can I say? Terri is just fantastic! I'd recommend this album. Happy listening!
