I will miss the release of new books yearly updating me on Michael, Liz and April Patterson and of course Elly and John. They have been a part of my life since "Keep the Home Fries Burning" and I was able to find all the books going back. While I've never wanted children I learned about all the aspects - positive and negative, easy and hard, fun and trying - about the process.

Lynn Johnston has brought love, life and dealing with it all to the rest of us with fun, charm, tears, laughter and everything in between. I loved this book but it breaks my heart that it is the last one. But I have the whole collection to read anytime and I will reread all of them the rest of my days.

Thank you, Lynn. You have made the world a much more magic place.

A marvelous little book that is a great wake up call to all those contemplating getting married, or thinking of planning a wedding. Lynn Johnston is a wonderful artist and humorous writer with an eye for details and a sense of humor, even under stress. Makes a great engagement present for the happy couple in your life.

This is the last collection of the "old" For Better or For Worse strips. After these appeared Lynn Johnston "restarted" the strip by basically going back in time and making all the characters young again. These are the strips that tell how Elizabeth got married and the last one gives a synopsis of what happened next. This is a nice collection and any one who has gone through the hassles that the average wedding causes will get a chuckle. I highly recommend this book.

I've been a fan of "For Better or For Worse" for decades and this latest book is a good example of Lynn Johnston's every day family life that is simple and yet loving and compelling. This is the way that the story should end and I'm glad that she chose to end it this way.

I've been very fond of the For Better or For Worse comics for years. I feel that Lynne Johnston has written and drawn slices of real life into
the comic strip, and that her characters are people we know in our own
lives. This last collection did not disappoint.

Like all living species, humans go through the usual life cycle to ward off inevitable extinction for another eon or so.

Babies pop out. They turn into dimply little preschoolers getting into trouble for our amusement. They gradually become awkward, hormones-crazed adolescents falling for each other and then metamorphose into impossibly gorgeous creatures briefly basking in the fleeting glory of youth and getting ready to mate with each other to eventually pop out babies, lather, rinse, repeat. In the meanwhile, the older generation slowly and reluctantly prepares for the grave, like it or not. :)

At least that's the anthropological subject of Lynn Johnston's comic strip, which is starting to feel its age (and so does the creator, of course!) No wonder the characters are being rendered in that creepy proto-realistic look where the younger ones (especially Elizabeth and April) magically grow more and more beautiful so they can be flawless fairytale princesses in time for their weddings (then it will naturally go downhill from there, especially after a few kids and an insane domestic life!) while the older ones get fat, gray, wrinkled, droopy, and ugly as heck, and in the worst case scenario, become a vegetable like poor Grandpa Jim. :(

Not only that, but HEAVY doses of sugary sentimentality has also been injected into the story in place of the usual comic-strip humor and silly puns, where characters act all huggy-wuggy, patting each other's backs and reassuring each other that they will be fine whatever they do - writing global bestselling books, forming a world-famous rock band, becoming a sweet little wifesy-boo, whatever. And in the meanwhile, a brand spanking new generation of spoiled brats continue to merrily wreak mayhem upon the otherwise peaceful (boring?

I have every collection Lynn as put out. And continue to read FBOFW as she changed the format and "re-cycles" the story. This book is a great tribute to the "end" of the strip. Definately worth adding to collection.
