One of my favorite memories of my youth is that of my grandfather sitting down to read to me from this book. The timeless stories mix hilarity with common sense; their life lessons appeal to all ages. My all-time favorite is the Armadillo story, from which I can still quote directly. You and your children will benefit from and find much delight in these wonderful stories. Buy this book, Best Beloved - you'll be glad you did.

this is an excellent, intelligent book that will make everyone smile. the animal stories are cute and compelling and silly...after my sister took our childhood copy of this book, i'm buying it for myself. although it is intended for children, it is written with such an intelligent wit that adults, too, will find the stories endearing. this is an especially charming book to read aloud.

The Complete Just So Stories,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Just So Stories (Hardcover)
This deserves at least 10 Stars!!! On May 23, I ordered, through Amazon, Kipling's Complete Just So Stories, illustrated by Isabelle Brent, from Durham City Bookshop in England. Expected delivery was June 29 (with standard delivery), which seemed reasonable since I live in the heartland of America. It arrived June 3 in very "eco wise" packaging! It had been described as good condition, but is actually an exquisite book in pristine condition. One of the most beautifully printed editions I have ever seen, with absolutely breathtaking illustrations. Quite a bargain for $.69 plus $3.99 shipping. It has already become a frequently requested favorite for reading stories to the grandsons when they are here for tea. Our tradition of tea time started with our boys and has continued for the grands. Sometimes elaborate, but more often simple, and always conversation and stories interrupted only by polite requests of "May I be Mother, and pour?" I will order from the Durham City Bookshop whenever I can and hope to visit someday.
