Another great childrens book by Rudyard Kipling. This is a collection of short stories such as How The Camel Got His Hump and How The Leopard Got His Spots. A great book to stimulating a childs, or even an adults!, imagination.

When I was a child, the highlight of my Sunday was listening to my aunt read the Just So Stories to my siblings and me. My personal favorites are "the Cat Who Walks By Himself" and "Elephant's Child". As an adult I have read these wonderful stories aloud to others using the same dramatization that I heard my aunt used. In my book collection, I have the complete works of Rudyard Kipling that I inherited from my grandmother So I have the actual volume that my aunt used to read to us.
Now I also have the stories on my iPad and always have access to: "excuse me" said the Elephant's Child, "but have you seen a Crocodile in these promiscuous parts?" and "I am the Cat who walks by himself and all places are alike to me."
As part of my courtship, my future husband listened to me read those and other stories so I knew he was a keeper.
For any parent who reads aloud to his/her child, I highly recommend these stories as a source material. They will entertain you as well as your child.

it's hard to understand because there is so much going on and the language is not in my vocabulary. I'm sure that if it's not something for me it's not for you

This is a facsimile edition of the original by Rudyard Kipling, a British Citizen who lived in India in the late 19th or early 20th century. It provides answers to such intriguing questions as: How The Elephant Got His Trunk, How The Camel Got His Hump, How The Leopard Got His Spots, and others. It is a classic book and should be enjoyed by children as they go to bed or as they learn to read on their own. I used this book for years in teaching advanced high school biology, along with a little jewel called "The Snouters" as a tongue-in-cheek and humorous introduction to evolutionary concepts. I generally keep several hard copies of the book around to give to new parents and/or children that I meet in their formative years. This particular purchase was to add the kindle edition to my collection.
