Should stop being surprised,

I keep thinking Damien Jurado is going to be done putting out awesome recordings. I keep being dead wrong.
I love this short record and absolutely agree with the other reviewer, put the cd player on repeat. A real treat.

i've been a fan for years now, of damien's voice, storytelling, and wonderfully nostalgic-feeling tunes.
if you're the same way, do yourself a favor and get this. it's very quiet and subtle, and even though under 10 minutes in length, is well worth getting.

I don't usually write reviews for anything but I just had to write a quick note about this cd.
A perfect album to put your back against the floor and close your eyes to. Just put it on repeat because you'll be upset when it's over.

Solid EP,

Fantastically underrated singer/ songwriter. This EP is classic but minor Jurado, foot firmly in the past, but aspiring to the timeless work of someone like M. Ward (a superior, but comparable artist). "Smith 1972" is a floksy dirge, "Motion Sickness" displayes Jurado's lovely, if slightly off-key warble, and is over before you have even begun to savor it, "Night Out for the Downer" at almost 4 minutes is nearly twice as long as any other song here, and is an effective centerpice for the EP, with Jurado playing an amplified semi-acoustic guitar that sounds rather like Smog. "Pieces" is short and unmemorable, and the EP closes with "Engine Fire."
