Book Description

This expanded edition contains the original book exactly as published, plus a Part Two--over 180 reflections on the thoughts and ideas presented in the original edition. That's over 100 pages of new material for those who are looking for more detailed content.

A collection of thoughts that can be opened to any page on any day to give ourselves a guiding thought for that particular day. And that guiding thought can help us in many ways. It may be a thought that opens our eyes to something new or something old that we take for granted (“I will notice the flowers”), it can guide our actions to help us to make positive contributions to the world (“I will spread encouragement”), or it can help us to be kinder to ourselves in the hope that in doing so, we can be kinder to others (“I’ll remember that I’m a very special person”). All of them are focused on awareness, compassion, giving, appreciation, community, and many other topics that are found on the website Living Life Fully. (This book is in no way associated with any addiction recovery programs.)

Format:Kindle Edition
This is NOT like a regular Just For Today book. It is a whole bunch of one liners page after page.

3.0 out of 5 stars One line affirmations November 6, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I wish I had read the reviews before purchasing this book. I expected it to be more detailed and similar to the "Just for Today" book associated with NA and AA and this seemed more like a journal of focusing on the day in one sentence and having a positive attitude.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's okay.... May 13, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book is full of 'one-liners' like: Just For Today I will __________. They are not paragraphs or dated meditations which is what I thought it was.

5.0 out of 5 stars simple, uncluttered - understandable - November 22, 2012
By miss.m
I don't intend to invite some form of literary debate or commentary. To me, a meditation book is to provide a point from which I can begin to open a path. The path is mine - not the author's. I find this book serves the purpose intended. It is simple, uncluttered and understandable............ further, it is an invitation to a beginning, doesn't tell me what to do or impose a destination.........
If you want to know more - get a copy from your library for a personal review - or his other offerings - and see for yourself. You may find you want a copy for your use.............. Thank you.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not much for the price August 14, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This isn't a bad book. If you are used to the "Just for Today" books available in 12 step programs, this may not be the book for you. One sentence inspiration is what this book offers.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not so hot May 9, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
This book is just a series of items that one can do "just for today" for his/her recovery with a whole lot of white space between. When I ordered this book, I thought it was the "Just for Today" book of daily meditations put out by Narcotics Anonymous. This is something different.

I have to say I haven't used this much, mainly because it wasn't what I expected. Perhaps, I will like it more if I actually use it a bit.

For inspiration at various hours of the day I prefer the 24/7 Pocket Sponsor.

More About the Author

In becoming a writer, I've meandered over a path that I never could have foreseen years ago when I was a young man hoping to become a novelist. Time and circumstance have conspired to push me more towards non-fiction, as I've created most of my writing over the last decade to support my website,, through articles for the weekly e-zine that I publish as well as daily meditations and other essays to support certain topics. While I still love to write novels, I love the writing that I'm doing, too, and I hope to continue it for quite a while.

I grew up in a military family, so my experience in life has to do with non-permanence. This trend has continued into my adult years, as I find that life sends circumstances my way that force me to choose between staying in a place where opportunities have dried up, or moving on and meeting new people and challenges. Currently my wife and I live in eastern Washington, where I teach high school.

After I received my B.A. in Spanish many years ago, I moved to Europe, where I lived for three years--in Salamanca, Munich, and Barcelona. After coming home and getting my first Master's degree, I joined the Army and ended up spending two more years in Augsburg, Germany. The years that I spent in Europe have been among the most important in the formation of my world and life views.

After many years of teaching college, I made the switch five years ago to teaching high school, mostly because there seemed to be more of a need for high school teachers than for college teachers. The change has been very valuable for me, as I've met some of the most important people in my life in my students and colleagues; while the work is harder and the vacations much shorter, I have no regrets at all about making the change.

I have a doctorate in Teaching and Learning, as I've been interested in both all my life. I also have three M.A.'s: in Educational Leadership, English as a Second Language, and English Lit. I try my best to bring what I've learned about learning to my writing, so that a reader can benefit from my experience of life as well as from my writing.
