Biography

It's been 40 years since a trio of young cousins left Fort Payne, Alabama, to
spend the summer playing in a Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, bar called The Bowery. It
took Randy Owen, Teddy Gentry and Jeff Cook six long years of tip jars and word of
mouth to earn the major label deal they'd been dreaming of, but then seemingly no
time at all to change the face of country ... Read more in Amazon's Alabama Store

4.0 out of 5 stars Not country, not pop, not bad. August 9, 2006
Format:Audio CD
This album and its predecessor "The Touch" are easily the most pop-oriented of the band's work through the mid 80's. The country is all but gone, but that's not necessarily a bad thing, as the band's sound in this era was never exclusively country. Highlights include the biographical "Tar Top" and nostalgic "'55".

3.0 out of 5 stars another 9 song cd October 26, 2013
Format:Audio CD
If you read any of my other reviews you know how much I love 9 song cds. This does have one 6 minute song and one 7 minute song on it. So that kind of makes up for a shortage of songs. And Alabama is my favorite artist of all time so I can live with that. I bought this when it first came out in 1987. It has the hits Face To Face with K.T. Oslin and Fallin' Again which is the 7 minute song. Fallin' Again has good harmony and some hot picking in it.
It has the song Tar Top which is Randy's own personal auto biography. It was released as a single. And it didn't make number one which ended their number one streak. This has a couple of nostalgic songs. Old Man and '55. Which are also good roll your window down and go cruising songs. It has a couple of love songs. You're My Explanation For Living and I Can't Stop. And a very good very deep song. I Saw The Time. An excellent song worth getting the cd for. This is a good cd.
