Wow! I was amazed on how much I learned. This book tells you everything about Mr. Davis. He himself before he died helped write this biography. He wanted fans to know the history of today's NFL. Most of the book is a history of the AFL (American Football League) and how he helped get the merger with the NFL in 1966. He was the most hated but most winningest guy in football. As Tom Flores said at the top of the cover, this is a book that reveals the true Al Davis. It talks about the Raiders good years, as well as the down years in the past decade. Al Davis is missed by his family, the fans, the Raiders, and the NFL. This book is a great read, I never wanted to stop. Thank You to Mr. Davis and Mr. Olderman on writing this book. I loved it and you will too.

While this work was a fun read with some new Al Davis tales, it would have been greatly helped with just as much detail and attention spent on the years of decline 1995-1999 and 2003-Present. Again, worth the money, but some stories missing.

The man behind the Shield was more involved in this book, even if your not a Raiders fan its a fun facts filled book about the AFL, NFL merger. you get to see a little tidbit of why Al is why he was who he was. would have loved if there was more about the latter years, but a great read none the less.
