This book absolutely enraptured me as a child back in the 70's, and now, with the anticipated birth of my own first child, this is one of the staple books with which I will start my baby's library. The gentle, sweet storyline combined with charmingly detailed drawings will entertain your little one time after time. There's always something new to discover with each reading, and they will help nurture that special close bond between you and your little one that only comes from sharing wonderful books together. This book is THE classic of Mercer Mayer books, and every child should have a copy of "Just For You", just for them.

This book was a part of my childhood and just recently I was given it again (hardback) for my 25th birthday. After reading it for the first time in many, many years, it was just as I had remembered. Not only are the little critters adorable, but the stories are touching. This book has special meaning to me because as a child, my mother and I would read it together, and I was alot like the little critter in this book. Always trying to do something nice for mom, but somehow messing it up. This book teaches children it is not neccesarily how you do something, but why you did it that means the most!

This was one of the few books I remember as a child and now love to read to my own 4yr old daughter. This one and All By Myself, Just Go To Bed and Just a Toy are, in my opinion, the best Little Critter books! Enjoy!

Mercer Mayer is great at childrens books. When I was a kid, I read my paperback version until the front and back covers fell off. Mayer communicates how children feel with his cute Little Critter characters. The end of each book puts a big smile on my face.

I remembered this book from when I was a child and just recently my mother gave it to my daughter. It is still just as adorable and delightful as it was then. Little critter tries so hard to find some way to give something to his mother, but keeps "messing it up". Of course we know, as Little Critter finds out the love of a child is reward enough for any mother!

The kid tried something for his mother and every time he did something for his mother he screwed up on it. The lesson is that you cant always be perfect but you can always be the greatest kid in front of your mother. The age level is 1st grade. Yes it was a good book.

Just for You is my favorite children's book. Every one of Mercer Meyer's books are wonderful for children...and adults alike. The children love looking for the spider and grasshopper on each page.

Little Critter is a cute, loveable hedgehog. He tells the story about how he trys to help his mom. Everytime he trys, it seems to not work out for him.

I adore the pictures. I also enjoy looking for the spider on each page. I like all the little Critt books but this is my favorite.

The Little Critter books by Mercer Mayer are my favorite books for the 2-4 age group. I love the pictures! I love the message that each story brings. The books are something special....They are keepers.
From a grandma...don't give them away, don't donate them, you will pull them out one day....and be glad that you saved them. There is a wide variety of titles. Any one of them is a good place to start.

These books are so cute and the kids love them. I've bought other books based on popularity or reading that they are classics for youngsters...and it seems that most of the time none of us likes those books. We got a couple of the Little Critter books from my Aunt and the kids love them so I am back on here looking for more.
