4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful novel filled with suspense and romance August 5, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Madison, a young woman finds herself meeting up with a boy she's talked to online for a few years. Madison is too shy to approach guys naturally, so she found herself talking to them online. This concerned her father, and he was none to pleased when she met up with Alex, the man she's known online for quite awhile. When Alex and Madison plan a vacation, her father grows even more concerned. In his eyes, Alex is a stranger who could be dangerous. Madison is nervous as well and has been haunted by dreams filled with fear. Her father even had a similar dream, yet Madison still follows through with her vacation plans. After all, what could go wrong? It's just some silly dreams, right? Alex promises to return her home safely.
On the trip, the two find themselves stranded when their car breaks down. Their cells have no signal and the OnStar doesn't work. They try walking to a gas station where Madison and Alex are confronted by horrifying men.
This story takes many twists and turns. It does include rape, which was written very thoughtfully and not in too much detail (nothing at all like Push/Precious). After the events that follow encountering those men, Madison is left with a desperation to seek out justice for the crimes commited to her and those she loves.
This was a quick read and highly addictive. The writing style is perfect and builds up the suspense when required. While reading this I honestly pictured it almost like a Lifetime movie. It had sex, drama, romance, rape, violence, suspense --- all of it wrapped into one book. This isn't a genre that I typically seek out, but I really loved it. Just when I thought the fight was over, there was another twist and turn. This book literally kept me reading it because of all the twists and turns; I couldn't wait to see what happened next.

5.0 out of 5 stars Intense Read July 17, 2012
By kgkdh
Format:Kindle Edition
I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Although I hate to write spoilers in reviews, there are a few in here. *sorry*

Madison, a young adult, decides to take a road trip vacation with her friend, Alexander. Unfortunately, their car breaks down, they are forced to walk for help and are subsequently attacked and kidnapped. While captured Alexander is beaten to the brink of death, and Madison is repeatedly raped. One of the gang member's brothers comes to Madison's rescue, and she escapes, but she is captured again and gang raped, and then escapes again. During her last escape, she falls in love with her rescuer.

When she is taken to the hospital, she finally feels safe. But unfortunately, Ryan and his fellow gang members have evaded the police. Her father takes her back home, and within months, Madison finds out she is pregnant. Several years later, Madison tries to find out who the father of her child is and goes after the gang members/rapists in an effort to seek justice.

I would say that this book is a thriller/drama, and I was glad to see the ending (without saying what happened). In honesty, I found it hard to read rape scenes (or even watch a movie where this happens). The scenes were well written but as a reader, I lean towards lighter reads. Rape is a sensitive topic, and I had a hard time with her finding love right after the rape. This book is written in present tense, and has a good storyline/plot.

I would highly recommend this book to readers who enjoy an intense, adult-oriented thriller.

5.0 out of 5 stars Strong Debut Novel. Very impressed! July 10, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The heroine in this book is one of the strongest I've ever read about. She isn't super woman or any other supernatural being. She is a small town girl from the south that has always taken the safe road and been the "good girl." Well, having had enough of being the sweet and innocent child, the woman in her decides to do something reckless and exciting for a change, with a guy she met over the internet and barely knows.
Call it fate or destiny that her and her companion break down at exactly the wrong place and the wrong time. I hate spoilers, so I won't spoil this read for you, but the heroine's bad luck doesn't stop there. Just when it seems she may catch a break another wall is thrown in front of her. With the help of a new friend, her bad fortune may indeed have a turn around. Can she change fate? And has she found her true love in the process? You will have to buy it and find that out for yourself. Don't miss this gripping, tale.

2.0 out of 5 stars great potential August 10, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I think this book has a lot of potential because there is an interesting idea of a storyline. However, the further I got into the book, the more disappointed I was by the writing. I think with several more read-throughs and some harsh editing, this book could really improve. There were a lot of editing errors, the tenses jumped around a bit, and the plot skipped big periods of time without any separation in between. There were a lot of moments when I was left wanting more from a scene, a deeper look into what was going on. Perhaps if this book were split into two and expounded upon, it would be easier to draw the reader into the characters and their situation.

More About the Author

First off, thank you for visiting my page.

I am fairly new to the world of writing. I published my debut novel, Justice for All, in July of 2012. And my second, From the Darkness Within, on May 17, 2013. I am working on and have ideas for books 3, 4, & 5.

As a child, I never thought of writing a book, or two for that matter. However, I was creative and I loved writing poems and songs. In 2009, a few events that were set in motion by the big man upstairs, led me to writing Justice for All and I haven't stopped since. I love it. Writing is entertaining and definitely an escape when it needs to be. Anything (or anyone) can be a muse for me, but music is mostly what helps me write scenes. Life in general is an inspiration for writing.

A lot of my writing is reflected from my own personal experiences, although some are exaggerated. Such as in Justice for All, you will read about how Madison was raised by her father and helped him with her two younger sisters. That actually happened. And later in the book, Madison meets Alexander. I met Steven, but we didn't go on a road trip together.

I am married to a wonderful, and even more creative man, named Bradley. He helped me write a few scenes in From the Darkness Within. We were married in December 2010 and that day, I also gladly accepted into my family Jayden, Bradley's one year old son. Brad and Jayden bring me so much joy and love. They definitely keep me busy, but it is all worth it. I love them guys!
