A Japanese law textbook for American students,

This review is from: Justice and Civil Procedure in Japan (Hardcover)
This is a great introduction to Japanese law and civil procedure. Easy to read - even for non-lawyers to some extent. One thing I really appreciate about this book is that it presents Japanese law in much the same way a U.S. law textbook would present U.S. law (although with less emphasis on cases). Goodman discusses relevant cases and tries to show how litigation actually works. Too many books on comparative law (especially on Chinese law) focus excessively on the text of the law or the politics behind it - rather than the court opinions and legal practices that really make the law.
