Book Description

One of the highest rated mysteries on Kindle and a Readers Favorite Award winner! Soon to be a Thomas & Mercer book.

***
A decade earlier, Hector Vargas confessed to the cold-blooded murder of Detective Jackson's parents. Now, facing his own death, Vargas reaches out from prison to declare his innocence. Armed with the shocking new truth that dirty cops railroaded Vargas, Jackson must revisit the painful past to get justice for his parents.

Meanwhile, Gina Stahl awakens from a two-year coma with a chilling message: He tried to kill me. Detective Lara Evans must probe the young woman's desperate claim that her near death was not failed suicide, but attempted murder.

As their investigations overlap, Jackson tangles with his estranged brother, hunts a loan shark turned philanthropist, and confronts his parents' long-buried secrets, while Evans contends with a relentless reporter and shadows a fellow cop with a dangerous reputation. But the more dark revelations they make, the deadlier the resistance they face from a killer terrified of losing everything...and willing to stop at nothing.

"DYING FOR JUSTICE is an amazing story! You're caught up in the story from the very first sentence. The characters are so real that it's like you know them. Every page brings something new and unexpected to the reader. Don't miss this one!"--Fresh Fiction.com

"If you're a fan of Sellers' Detective Jackson mysteries, don't miss this--her best yet. Completely engrossing right to the very satisfying end."--Robin Cain, author of When Dreams Bleed

"Every time I read a Detective Wade Jackson mystery, I say to myself, "Well she won't be able to write one better than this..." and each time I begin to read the newest book in the series, I know I was wrong. The author has written one that is better than the last!" Fans of police procedurals will find the blend of mystery with suspense to be just right. The author, an award-winning journalist, knows how to write."--OverMyDeadBody.com

"I finished the book in two sittings, thanks in part to a fast paced narrative and intelligent multi layered storyline, and was disappointed when it ended - simply due to the fact that I'll have to wait a while for the next title to come my way! Dying for Justice is a superb example of how to deliver a police procedural." Milo, BBC reviewer

"With each thriller, Jackson gets better and better."--Bookbitch.com

Review

"Sellers is an expert at creating deeply human characters, together with a plot that kept picking up speed as it hurtled to an ending that sent chills up & down my back. Just as that settled down, the ending had me in goosebumps. Sellers' just keep getting better and this is her best one yet. Highly recommended."--Crimespree magazine

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Home Run! March 11, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I have loved all of LJ Sellers books & this one is another home run. I am not going to give it an overview because others already have. However, this is why I love her books - the characters are developed well, the story itself is top notch, you are always surprised by the ending, the story is not too long but not too short, and you just don't want to put the book down.

Can't wait for more!

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended top buy! September 11, 2011

All the LJ Sellers Detective Jackson series have been first rate. The characters are engaging and the stories are exciting and very readable, but this is the best one of the lot. - And at what a great price! Being an Australian born in England I tend to go for Australian and English authors since that's what I'm familiar with, but these are great and I now have ambitions to visit Oregon.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Addition to the Series March 30, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
A woman wakes from a two year coma. Everyone thought she'd attempted suicide, but she claims something else happened. Somebody had attacked her and staged a suicide.

A condemned murderer writes an appeal to Detective Jackson to re-open the case, claiming he wasn't the murderer after all, but had been browbeaten into a confession. Can Detective Jackson put aside his feelings to find the truth of the matter? It's especially hard since the man was convicted or murdering Jackson's own parents.

My favorite aspect of this book is the merging of two separate mysteries: one involving Wade Jackson, a favorite of mine, and a second with Detective Lara Evans.

Det. Evans was in the previous Jackson mysteries, so I knew her a bit. I was happy to see her grabbing hold of her own cases and running them on her own.

Each Sellers book I read is a little better than the previous. I like her widening the role of Det. Evans. Who doesn't like a tough female cop with ambition?

What can I say without giving away too much? Only this is a darned good police procedural involving characters you love to follow. I think L.J. Sellers gives us as good as J.D. Robb ever did. Maybe it's something to do with using two inits instead of a first name. Whatever it is, it's working.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good read January 20, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I won't say that this kept me on the edge of my seat but I was motivated to turn the page throughout the text. The mystery is well written and I appreciated the fact that he author kept sex and violence at a reasonable level. I thought I could guess the ending. It was certainly really good but not what I expected.

Excellent mystery. Jance and Patterson better watch out--Sellers knows how to write a great mystery. The plot and the characters were excellent. I can't find one thing to in this novel that I would improve on. I will definite buy more of Sellers books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read!! January 8, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
With detective novels being a dime a dozen, L.J. Sellers manages to keep her stories fresh, exciting, and page turning to the very end! I happened to find a Detective Jackson story through the recommend reading for me and haven't been disappointed yet! My only regret is that there is only one more book left in the series to read! Great stories, great characters, an absolutely wonderful way to spend an afternoon!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another good one June 27, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Good Book!! One of a series of books about a police detective, Wade Jackson and his partner Lara Evans.

Gina woke up! Gina has been in a coma for two years, thought to be brought on by a suicide attempt, but she said it was attempted murder by her ex. Evans gets to be primary on this case, and it is her first time with all the responsibility.

Jackson's parents were murdered many years ago and the convicted murderer is dying of cancer and wants to see Jackson. He tells Jackson that he didn't murder his parents and he only confessed because of mistreatment by the interrogating officers. Jackson gets permission to work on his parents case, for a short while, but he will need to help out others if needed.

Jackson and Evans work their own cases but help each other out when they are needed. This book moves, and the characters are engaging. I felt like I was there and as the climax grew closer, my reading adrenaline rose. All the characters are well fleshed out, and you get to know and like the main characters a little better with this book.

Don't want to say any more just to make sure there are no spoilers, get this book and dive in.
