About the Author

Edwards Stevens, Jr. (deceased). Formerly a professor of history and philosophy of education in the School of Curriculum and Instruction at Ohio University.

George H. Wood is a professor of education and founding member of the Institute for Democracy in Education at Ohio University. He is the author of numerous essays and has authored Schools that Work. He is currently working on a study of school reform and administration.

James J. Sheehan is currently an assistant professor at Cleveland State University. He received his Ph.D. in education from Ohio University where he was on the faculty from 1994 to 1997. Before teaching at Cleveland State University, he taught history of higher education, elementary, middle, and secondary social studies at the University of North Dakota. His interests are the history of American public education, teacher education, and school reform. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.
