All-Action Heroes,

JUSTICE LEAGUE HEROES is an arcade-style actioner. There's no deep thinking here, just twitch movement and slam-bang action with some of DC's greatest heroes. People looking for something deep or something more along the lines of a true RPG need to look elsewhere. This one is for the kids -- and for dad (and moms) who want to be superheroes with their kids.
We bought the game yesterday when it came out. So far, my 9-year-old has spent hours on it. My 17-year old has been there as well (giving up time on MySpace to hang with his little brother during fall break), and dad and mom have suited up with the caped crowd as well. As a general across-the-board game the whole family can play and have fun at, JUSTICE LEAGUE HEROES succeeds. The game is for 1-2 player(s). It has a preset course that doesn't allow you to choose heroes, but you get to cycle through them in pairs. There's even a feature that allows a single player to shift characters in the pair. Players playing together can do the same, swapping characters over and over as they go along. The primary choices for the missions are Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Zatanna, Flash, Green Lantern, and Martian Manhunter. It looks like there are possibilities to be other superheroes as well, but we haven't gotten there yet. For the younger crowd or players wanting a no-brainer with awesome graphics and cool cut-scenes, JUSTICE LEAGUE HEROES really hits the spot. This is the perfect game to get the kids for Christmas, then sit right down with them over Christmas break and be a kid again yourself.

As a previous reviewer pointed out, there's nothing groundbreaking to be found in this game. It was built on Snowblind's Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance game engine; it's the standard smash and grab game and the game itself is kinda short too. If you're only interested in beating the game once and putting it away, you're sure to be disappointed.
However, if you're a DC fan you'll find the game's story interesting and if you play the game over, continuing to develop your characters as you go, you'll find the game MORE CHALLENGING and MORE FUN! You can't fully develop ANY of the character's powers and abilities playing the game only once. There are also lots of perks for certain characters (Superman) in the unlockable game items that REALLY enhance the gameplay. If you buy this game, plan to play it through MORE than once to get your money's worth. If you own this game, finished it once and put it away, get it out and play it again with the saved characters from the last game! You'll be pleasantly surprised.

When I first heard that we wouldn't be able to choose our own characters in the first few levels I was a little ticked, but as I progressed towards the end of the game, I understood why as you do need to know how to play all of your characters. This game will have you play two characters at the same time. If you don't have someone to play with, the computer will be your partner. With one easy click of the up direction you can switch your character throughout the levels. As for graphics, I think it looks good overall. I'm not hard to please. As long as it doesn't look like Atari 2600 animation, I'm satisfied...although they could have made Wonder Woman a bit more sexyier in the face.
I didn't notice anyone else telling you all the characters you can play so here it is. The original start up is Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Flash, Green Lantern (john stewart), Martian Manhunter and Zatanna. Through the course of the game you can collect shields which are used as points to buy alternative costumes for your characters OR you can unlock other Justice League characters. Those characters are Hawkgirl, Aquaman, Green Arrow, Huntress and two other Green Lanterns Kyle Rayner and Hal Jordan. Its a good selection of characters but the problem is that there isn't enough time to build up these characters strengths giving them the "boost" combos. There are only certain levels where you can choose to play these characters and you don't want to face big opponents with characters that have weaker powers. Some of the enemies you'll be facing... The Key, Zazalla the Queen Bee, Braniac, Gorilla Grodd, Killer Frost, Doomsday, etc. I won't spoil the ending by giving you the main villain if you don't already know it. Overall, I found the game to be incredibly fun. The storyline is mediocre, but its a blast to live out your fantasies playing these characters and use their powers. The game is playable again. I concentrated my efforts on building up the powers of Wonder Woman and The Flash but it'll be cool to check out the maximum strengths of the other characters. I was never really big into the comic book series but I have always been a DC fan of the Super Powers, Super Friends and Justice League cartoons so I think any DC fan can appreciate this game. Here's hoping we get a sequel soon! 2115|R2NPNKB52T1VD5;2115|RZ2G5SQ1LDM0A;2115|R1A2SMNCP4TI3P;
