Book Description

Book 4 in the New Species series.

Justice North is the face of New Species. Seeing him up close makes Jessie’s heart race. He’s the ultimate alpha male—big, muscular, exotically beautiful…and dangerous. Of course he’s off limits. But then the sexy man purrs and all bets are off.

Jessie Dupree is a mouthy, fiery human female who brings out the animal in Justice. She wants to show him how to relax, and he’s all for anything she wants to do, but Justice has sworn to protect his people and to take a Species mate. He’s torn between the woman he wants and the oath he’s taken.

Jessie knows a relationship between them probably won’t end well; heartbreak is inevitable. But that won’t stop her from freeing the wildness inside Justice and spending every moment she can steal wrapped around his hot body, making him roar with passion.

Reader Advisory: Each New Species book may be read as a standalone, but we suggest reading them in order to get the most enjoyment from the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! A fantastic read! November 11, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Wow, just wow! What an excellent addition to this series! Laurann gives us a wonderful book with Justice's story. He seems to be the calmest of the new Species, until he falls in love, with a human woman, that is confident, and take charge, and no one's push over. Then the possessive need to claim HIS female, to protect, and cherish her come roaring to the forefront. Laurann consistently brings in strong female characters, which are the perfect foils for her uber alpha males. The book is fast paced, and an on the edge of your seat read. Laurann keeps the world building at the perfect level. You learn something new, in each book, without getting swamped in detail overload. The story lines, plot, and characters, are fresh and inventive, and leave you consistently wanting more. The sex is sensual, and steamy, and may leave scorch marks on your readers. The dialogue between the characters is original and genuine, and the emotion between Justice and Jessie, just reaches out and grabs you. This book is a roaring (no pun intended) success, and when you finish it one sitting, as I did, all that you can say is " please, may I have some more?!" This is a must buy, not a maybe, a must!

4.0 out of 5 stars My Kind of Justice April 16, 2012
By Krissy
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Honestly, I was feeling some good and bad things about this series. It seemed I would either love parts or hate them, especially in the case of Slade-that book almost stopped me from continuing, but Valiant revived my interest. Anyway, I was really nervous that Justice would be a flop since I didn't like his parts in the other books. I planned to only plow through his book just to keep up with the series. It turned out way better than I thought it would!

Jessie was my kind of heroine. She was tough, she was funny, she had spunk, yet she was still a girl. I instantly saw the chemistry between her and Justice. It was adorable to see the high and mighty Justice get flustered or blush when Jessie was completely frank with him. I liked how Jessie managed not to whine when she lost her job. She was considerate with her father in that regard even though it ticked me off that she had to leave basically because she was a girl who disobeyed orders when she rightly should have. The only thing that made me a little disappointed in her was how she didn't seem to understand how important the New Species were to Justice. I know she wanted their relationship announced to the public for other reasons too, but it was never made as big a deal in her head that the New Species were everything to him as it should have, so maybe she was a little unfair that way.

It was a little more difficult to understand Justice since most of the book was set in Jessie's point of view. I loved how important it became for him to understand how to relax and have fun. I was just disappointed that in terms of "fun" only meant sex. For as important as the bar and club scenes were in the book, Jessie and Justice never even danced together!

4.0 out of 5 stars Another good read. April in OR November 14, 2011

Well Laurann D has done it again. This was another good read for the New Species series. I have been waiting for Justice's story since he was introduced in the first book, which Fury's story is still my fave in this series. I did not like Jessie's character for some reason, she was a little annoying for me, at first she wanted to just have "sex" with Justice and since she knew that nothing could become of their relationship she was okay with it (note: when they have sex for the first time, she left him a "thanks for a good time note" when she had to leave for an emergency) but than only a few days pass by since they had sex and all of a sudden its "I want a relationship". There is also another scene where they both fight over their relationship and my only thought was why did she not just leave the house that she was staying in? (the house was right next door to Justice) Breeze could of helped her out, like I said Jessie's character really annoyed me a tad. I LOVED how LD mentioned Fury, Slade, and Valiant in this story so that made up for my annoyance with Jessie.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best in the series! June 28, 2013
By Rebecca
Format:Kindle Edition
I absolutely loved Justice and Jessie! They are each the best hero and heroine of the series. Justice is far more human seeming than the other New Species, so that made him more appealing to me and far more realistic. But there is still an animal in him, and when it came it was more impressive. They mentioned more than once that the reason Justice was chosen as leader was because he was more calm and reasonable than the others, which we saw much proof of. But they also said it was because he was the best fighter, but we never saw proof of it before so I kind of forgot. But in this book, there is a scene where Justice was fighting some friends just to let off some steam. They we fighting two against one. Justice against Tiger and Brass and he took them both down. Brass isn't the best fighter. We know that because Slade beat him two books back. But Tiger is head of security and I imagine he is a very good fighter. It was pretty awesome. Also, Justice is even louder than Valiant! Haha, if you read Valiant then you know what I mean.

Another thing about this book that was different from the rest of the series is that it did not deal with Mercile or the human hate groups at all. It was completely focused on Justice and Jessie because they were the main obstacle to their relationship. They had a push and pull thing going on because Justice didn't think that his people would accept her as his mate, and she was getting sick of waiting for him. I really enjoyed the new focus and was glad for a bit of a break from all the horrible people who want to make the NS lives hell.

I really loved Justice and Jessie as individuals as well as as a couple. There were amazing ppl and they were perfect for each other. They were also really funny.

More About the Author

NY Times and USA Today Bestselling Author

I'm a full time wife, mother, and author. I've been lucky enough to have spent over two decades with the love of my life and look forward to many, many more years with Mr. Laurann. I'm addicted to iced coffee, the occasional candy bar (or two), and trying to get at least five hours of sleep at night.

I love to write all kinds of stories. I think the best part about writing is the fact that real life is always uncertain, always tossing things at us that we have no control over, but when your write you can make sure there's always a happy ending. I love that about being an author. My favorite part is when I sit down at my computer desk, put on my headphones to listen to loud music to block out everything around me, so I can create worlds in front of me.

I've been looking for it too and finally just decided to read Valiant instead. I think you have to order the actual book from another site.
