5.0 out of 5 stars I love this book-one of my favorites!, November 1, 2011
This review is from: Out for Justice (Shotgun Sallys, Book 1) (Harlequin Intrigue Series #774) (Mass Market Paperback)
I want to start this off by saying that I think this was my 1st book by her-I can't remember which is strange enough, but a testament to the amount of times I've re-read it because believe me, I have!

Kelly McGovern is Andrew's pampered little sister and Wade Lansing is his not rich best friend- the one guy that she'd always wished was hers. Something terrible happens to Andrew and Wade remembers what he'd told him-if anything happened to him, watch over Short Stuff. Kelly is devastated and decides to investigate using all the tactics she possesses. Watching over her is sure as hell no hardship for him, and he sees her dressed approachably- making him wonder what she was up to-with the clothes and with her being in the wrong part of town-his part. Before he could even blink, she's onto him and wants to know why he's following her. Wade knows that despite the fashion lays a sharp mind, just like her older brother. He is delighted that she can't really maintain her ultra-polite attitude around him, in fact, all these years he had always been glad that she came off as annoyed when it came to dealing with him. He teases her and she tells him what she's doing is none of his business. But he knows that she's hurting-she'd been close to her brother, following him and Wade around when she was younger. He tells her he's supposed to look after her and she doesn't want his help at first. After getting a bit more of upsetting news, she realizes something-she needs his mind on the case with her and besides...this was Wade.

While investigating together, someone clearly doesn't want them finding out about what happened to her brother. Early on she decides to stop with her staying away from him and go after what she wants. She had always hidden what she really felt for him and refuses to do so anymore. The tough and sweet bad-boy can't believe what she's implying and keeps in mind his promise Andrew to look after her as well as the fact that they come from different backgrounds. He tries to back away from her and at the same time, not hurt her feelings and guard her. But it's getting harder and harder for him to stay away from her in that way and questions why she wants him, not realizing that on her part, he was always it for her. Though hurt, she keeps her skin tough and goes after what they both want.

The only problem that I had with this book was that I wished it could have been regular novel-sized! The two of them have such amazing chemistry and I loved it when she pursued him, resulting in something very hot, sweet and special. It was so damned amusing having such a hot male feel the need to back away from the woman he wants more than anything. But when she tries to get her way ;) WOW. It's a very steamy and at the very same time, very adorable romance which is perfect. I wish I had a Wade of my own!
