First, let me say that I purchased this for a child and I am not a collector.
That being said, the figure does not look like the American superman and it is from the UK.
While I am satisfied with it, I will probably have my son keep this as a collectable and not something to play with.
If you are looking for a toy, I would choose something else, but for a collectible item, this is great.

I rated the educational value high because Superman stands for the good in society. The five-year-old this was for makes the good vs. bad decisions for his Superman figure while playing and that is very educational. This toy is well made although I think a lot of people actually collect them and don't use them for toys, but it is well made and will hold up to play. I'm very happy with the purchase.
