Book Description

December 2001
When Judge Wilson, who released a rapist on probation and who is the subject of a recall petition, is poisoned, Sean Fogarty's son-in-law Dr. Carson, a psychiatry resident, and the last person to see the judge alive, is suspected by the police. Sean Fogarty undertakes to find the real murderer and discovers that a number of judqes who have been lenient with rapists and abusers of women as well as the actual abusers of women have also been poisoned. He discovers a women's vigilante group that has taken the law into their own hands. He and his wife Susie followed a trail of possible suspects and drug dealers through the Christmas season winter of Madison, Wisconsin, to find those responsible (including a surprise participant) and remove son-in-law Craig Carson from suspicion.

THE SEAN FOGARTY SERIES: Sean Fogarty is a wry country lawyer in a small university town in northern Wisconsin who gets involved in solving murders. The novels are more like English cosies that hardboiled private eye novels: they are not larded with gratuitous violence, serial seductions and car chases. The stories unravel against a background of small town and provincial university characters and their mores. The writing is fast-paced and sardonic.
