In this 2002 entry in the series about Scotland Yard detectives Duncan Kincaid and Gemma James, three murders seem related. As Duncan and Gemma investigate, they must also cope with their new life together, including Gemma's pregnancy. Michael Deehy has narrated earlier books in this series and has a firm grasp of the characters. Over several books, we come to know these people; Deehy's sensitive characterizations help make them our old friends. Deehy is particularly good at conveying emotion and states of being-tired characters sound tired, peevish characters sound peevish.
