Caleb Duncan knew this feeling, in love with a gorgeous, selfish woman. How could he remove her from his heart and life?
Danielle Scott loved a man who she just could not resist and that love turned on her in the worst of ways. These two beautiful, giving people have fallen for the wrong mates. They are both from different worlds, caught up in a sweet manipulation and trapped by calculated seduction. Can they find a way to be together? Everyone gets what's owed to them as love and revenge are never satisfied. In the end, you gotta have what's Due and Just, but can real love be truly Justified?
This is the first story in the Justified Series. It's a short story about Caleb a corporate executive and Danielle a marketing executive, who due to a possible merger with the companies they work for have to work together. Even though there is an instant attraction between the two, both are having to deal with issues with their past relationships.
I really enjoyed the story and the ups and downs they both had to face, the character's personalities and the sensual passion between Caleb and Danielle. The love scenes in this book are not erotic. So if that's what you are looking for, it is not in this book. But that doesn't mean you don't feel the passion between the two. I definitely recommend this story for anyone interested in a short story. I'm looking forward to the series and reading more about Caleb and Danielle, along with the other characters in the story. Extra content from the second book, Just Desserts, is also included.
I love romance because you just want that happy ending, the fairytale ending and sometimes in life the fairytale doesn't end quite so happily. Sometimes in life we make choices marred by our emotions and our feelings, and sometimes we are eluded of that happy ending because of the choices we make.
The author has portrayed the characters to have made some of those decisions that are questioned as to whether the right choice has been made or not. I love the way she writes showing you what the character is feeling and you go on that journey with the character, I'm not about to give away the ending whether the two find their happy ending or not but it is a beautiful story that just makes you wanting to find out if they do.
What I liked the most about this story were all of the twists and turns that the would-be lovers go through on the road to getting together. I wasn't sure I would like Caleb at first (he's a real jerk in the first scene), but he becomes very appealing, and acknowledges his bad behavior later on. The more you learn about his atrocious ex-girlfriend, the more you understand why he was so harsh. I liked Danielle's character the most. I could really relate to her ups and downs, and I could understand how it feels when you have a monster of an ex that you obsessed over suddenly want you back. You know he's a monster, but there he is, all of a sudden ready to give you what he never would before. Those are tough choices. Plus - he's also dead sexy as well!
As far as the heat level for this book, it is more of a sensual romance. It is very traditional sex, that is no more explicit than the average mainstream romance these days. So if you like your romances less focused on the sex, and more focused on the character storyline, this would definitely be a good choice.
If you like contemporary, interracial romance with smart, sexy characters that have real emotions, than I would recommend this book. Extra content from the second book, Just Desserts, is also included.
