With being a N'Sync fan already, I'm suprised with the solo project.

1.Senorita- Neptunes joint, salsa feel, old school ending "guy's say something" "girls say something back"
2.Like I Love You- 1st single, neptunes joint, loud drums, could do without ending
3.(Oh No)What You Got- Timbaland joint, typical sound from timb, catchy

5.0 out of 5 stars fantastic!!, May 31, 2003

i've listened 2 nsync albums, and i've always loved justin's contribution 2 each song, the way he uses his voice and reaches those notes. Thought he was the best singer out of them, then JC. So, u can just imagine how happy i was 2 hear he's going it alone for a while. and ... i was happy. i have 2 say, i haven't heard anything like it. it has that put-in-and-press-play quality, that i cant get enough of. i can play it over and over again, and not get bored of it, and there aren't many albums out there like that. Every song is different, and they do not fit one genre, cos there are many genres intertwined in just 1 song! e.g. TAKE IT FROM HERE has the guitars which give that indie feel, the beat-rnb, violins-easy listening and justin's singing-a rock feel, but soft and airy like ya floating! CRY ME A RIVER the staccato style of the chorus, give the operatic sound, beat-a mix of rnb and hip hop, justins voice-rnb pop sound... i can say so much about this album, but i'll be here all day. all i can say is, if u aint got it yet, u r laaate! Absolute class, justin! can't wait 4 ur next one!

4.0 out of 5 stars BEST CD EVER!, February 24, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Justified (Audio CD)
This CD is the best. If you don't like N'sync then don't worry about it cuz none of their rythme rubs off. Justin sounds really different. It's so R&B and classical, I love almost every song on it.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm in love with this CD!, June 9, 2003
This review is from: Justified (Audio CD)
"Senorita" is so cool. It kinda brings you into the CD. As if it finds a beat in you. It's the first thing that will make you have a crush on Justin Timberlake.
"Like I Love You" is a beat box song. If you got a thing for guitars and drums. If you don't, you're going to like it anyway. I do.
"(Oh No)What You Got" is Timbaland's official mark on this CD. Nothing less than a hit, and with Justin's chose of words and teasing voice it's only one word "sexy!".
"Take It From Here" is a song ladies that you'll want your man singing for you when there's a "moment". (Justin is so sexy and sensitive. Britany Spears is so missing out.)
"Cry Me A River" really I don't need to say anything about this song! Hot HOt HOT!
"Rock Your Body" is a night club song. If you can dance, this is a song to compete against on.
"Nothin' Else" is a tribute to Stevie Wanders' genuis. Pharrell did another good job on this song. It's a relaxing song and Justin has a few Micheal Jackson vocal vibes in this song.
"Last Night" is the great song. I really can't say much more.
"Still On My Brain" at first doesn't sound like an appealing song but when it gets to the beat it's pretty coo ;^D But if it's about Britany then I'm pretty dispointed in my chances. :^P JP.
"(And She Said) Take Me Now" is nothing but less but a hot slash dancing slash Timbaland joy ride song. In a PG rating sense 8^D. The later part is a night club mix.
"Night For Me" is so naughty. Listen to the words, it's irresistable.
"Let's Take A Ride" is in a word nothing but: coo.
"Never Again". Ladies to hear Justin sing this it's pretty depressing. :^( But still it's a beautiful song

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh my, oh my: Awesome, Awesome, Awesome, January 14, 2003
This review is from: Justified (Audio CD)
My daughter has an N'Sync website ... so I am used to hearing about them, and hearing their music in passing.

She insisted that I listed to Justin's solo debut, and I said okay just to get her off my back. Wild horses can't stop me from playing Justin now.

Cry Me A River is so tight, I'm afraid I'm gonna play it too much and grow tired of it. Not yet!
Like I Love You, Oh No (oh, yes, the tightest song on the album in my opinion), Take It From Here, Last Night, And She Said ... and on and on and on. Buy this today: it is worth every cent AND the tax!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Justin T. Proves Going Solo Was "Justified", June 27, 2003
This review is from: Justified (Audio CD)
Obviously Caleigh (see below) didn't listen to the CD carefully enough. While I don't have the European version, Justin's American version of "Justified" rocks! The lyrics and dance beats are hot and Justin's voice is right on the mark. Even the slow songs sound amazing, which is no surprise to *NSync fans who are used to Justin's smooth tenor voice.
The professional critics gave Justin high marks as well. While he does borrow some style from Michael Jackson (a mentor of his), he still makes the album his own. His singing ability on the album backs up its title, "Justified." And with the incredible amount of talent he possesses, we'll be seeing more merit-worthy albums from him in the future.

When I heard the news that Justin Timberlake was coming out with a "debut solo album", I couldn't help but roll my eyes. I figured it was going to be some over-rated CD created by some over-rated artist. Justin Timberlake, like all pop-stars, is barely talented. And his work reflects that (sometimes hidden by glitter and glam) obvious flaw. So when, out of curiousity, I checked out his CD, I couldn't help but be somewhat shocked. Altough the fact he can't sing is audible throughout the tracks, Timberlake's beats and lyrics were quite impressive. The collaborations he did helped by significant measures. If you're against all barely talented teeny-boppers, like I usually am, check this CD out anyways. It's great to dance to, great to sing along with(if your a soprano, like Timberlake...otherwise us altos don't have a chance to sing along with Justin's screechy, girlish voice), and it's just fun to hear some of his new stuff. This CD, even though it's nothing short of being mediocre, proves that Justin Timberlake has grown out of his boy-band and grown-up into the next...well, adult non-talented star...but hell, it's better than being a kiddy non-talented star, right?

4.0 out of 5 stars I have the U.S. release., March 12, 2008
This review is from: Justified (Audio CD)
And I think that qualifies me to write a review about this here also.

If you wanna know, I downloaded the bonus track, Worthy Of and am listening to it as we speak...

(let's time pass)

Worthy Of - I'm gonna let it play once more. It's nothing deep and the lyrics are easy to make sense of. One more play is all I need to rate it accurately.

OK. Like the lyrics. Justin is totally vulnerable here. Maybe he didn't want to show this side of him on the U.S. release at the time, but it's not just about being heartbroken - in fact, it's not about heartache at all. It's a mid-tempo about him second guessing himself, and wondering if he's good enough for her at all. Good song, and the beat and vibe of it totally enables you to sit back and totally relax to it. 8/10

This CD on a whole is kinda cliche and such, but that doesn't make it bad. Justin's voice floats through the air, like Ashanti's but it comes through better; clearer.

Does he use the falsetto a lot? In general, yes. But that doesn't make this CD totally throwaway garbage. No matter how cliche, people are still gonna relate; love, hardships, ups, downs and heartache is something that millions of people on this earth go through daily. This will only continue.

And even if the lyrics don't touch on much new at all he still had part in writing ALL of the tracks...Not everyone does that. Not everyone CAN DO that!

Two of my favorite tracks on this album are Still On My Brain and Last Night, the latter a fun upbeat mid-tempo about going through the motions with a girl that you thought was yours and true.

We know he was talking about Brit, and nowadays, she's trying to get back/keep her kids and she's been "diagnosed" as bipolar and she's getting over a cheating boyfriend. So much stress must be on her head.

But that's not the main topic we're here to talk about. Britney only helped fuel these lyrics in Justin's mind, heart and thoughts. And remember kids, this started pre-end of 2002. They're both in pretty different places now (aforementioned Britney and such).

Is this a forgettable album? To some it is. But to me it held its weight overall. If it's not a slower ballad, it's an upbeat mid or up-tempo here. Pretty decent mix.

And although I like both albums overall, this one is still my favorite. If you like pop music with hip-hop beats, get FutureSex/LoveSounds (2006).

Standouts, no order - (And She Said) Take Me Now, Take It From Here, Last Night, Still On My Brain, Nothin' Else and Señorita.

4.2 stars.

End note: If you DON'T like when Justin uses the falsetto, maybe you should skip it altogether! It occurs often. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid solo debut effort from Timberlake., April 14, 2003
By
This review is from: Justified (Audio CD)
Being easily one of the two most talented members of *NSYNC (with JC Chasez), it comes as no surprise that "Justified" justifies Justin's yearnings to release solo material.

With solid production from hip hop and R&B MVP's like the Neptunes, Timbaland, Brian McKnight, and including a guest production effort from newcomers Underdogs, each track on "Justified" has its own style and life about it.

Timberlake's first single, "Like I Love You," featuring East Coast rappers Clipse, is a helpful glimpse into the diverse CD. Standout head bobbers are "Cry Me a River," "Last Night," "Let's Take a Ride," and "What You Got." Timberlake smoothes it out with "Never Again," "Take It From Here," and the CD's best balland, "Still on My Brain."

The CD's only weak moments are truly a matter of taste. I found "Take Me Now" to be unnecessarily long with a certain lack of musical climax, so to speak, as well as the catchy "Right For Me" being fairly repetitive, as well as containing the weakest rap effort on the CD. Timberlake's lyrics in "Take It From Here" border on being quite amateur sounding at times, but their uniqueness adds to the track's strength.

All in all, Timberlake has truly proven himself a worthy star, as if that needed justifying, anyway.
