Biography

Since going solo from 'N SYNC, Justin Timberlake's sleek and sexy brand of pop has been so successful he's been branded 'the new King of Pop.' It's a world away from his early years as a Disney TV tearaway, former beau of Britney, and boy-band puppet.

Justin Timberlake is the pop and R&B singer, record producer, occasional actor and now label executive from Millington, Tennessee who originally… Read more in Amazon's Justin Timberlake Store

5.0 out of 5 stars Special Case - But No Enhancements, November 6, 2002
By
This review is from: Justified [Limited Edition] [Digipak] (Audio CD)
The only way this "DIGI-PAK" is different from the regular CD is that the DIGI-PAK does not come in a jewel case. Instead, the CD is inside a cardboard foldout case. It still will keep your CD protected, but the liner notes fall out quite easily. For fans that will bring the cd EVERYWHERE, you're better off getting the Jewel-case regular edition because it won't damage as quickly. But for fans that have to have it all, the DIGI-PAK is a must-need collectible! Despite the title, there are no hidden digital tracks or digital enhancements.

The track listing is the same as the non-Digi Pak (as follows)
1. Senorita (4:54)
2. Like I love you (4:43)
3. (Oh No) What You Got (4:31)
4. Take it from here (6:14)
5. Cry Me a River (4:48)
6. Rock Your Body (4:27)
7. Nothin' Else (4:58)
8. Last Night (4:47)
9. Still on my Brain (4:35)
10. (And She Said) Take Me Now (5:31)
11. Right for Me (4:29)
12. Let's Take A Ride (4:44)
13. Never Again (4:34)

5.0 out of 5 stars First solo attempt, November 8, 2002

Josh Kepler (Canton, Ohio United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Justified [Limited Edition] [Digipak] (Audio CD)
I'm in the music business myself working on my album. I'm a fan of all music. I've seen Nsync perform a few times, and I own all their albums. I listen to everything. Some examples would be Nirvana, Metallica, Nsync, O-Town, Clipse, Eminem, Backstreet Boys, Nelly, Avril, Britney, and on and on of mostly R&B/Rap/Hip-Hop/Rock and Pop. Is Justified what I thought it would be? No, it's better. It's not a new sound, but old old sounds, mixed with some new sounds. It's obvious that Justin and producers Timberland and The Neptunes listened to some late 70's and early 80's music before working on this album, example, Michael Jackson. It's a good thing that Justin co-wrote all his songs. Their not breakthrough lyrics, or lyrics that you would be like, whoa, he can really songwrite, but they do the job. If your a Nsync fan, I'm sure you already have this. If your a pop fan, don't miss this great album. For everyone else, at least give it a listen before you judge it. You may be surprised. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Justin's debut solo, November 6, 2002

Justin makes a pretty good name for himself with this new album, mimicking the sounds of Michael Jackson, like the song 'Rock your Body.' Trust me...this album SOUNDS like Michael Jackson...and that's a compliment.

Personally, i thought that this album was pretty good. But that of course is considering that i am a fan of Timbaland and The Neptunes. Timberlake wasn't joking when he said that he wanted to grow more musically, and that his fans would grow up with him. This album sounds nothing like what his *NSYNC days were like.

This album, at first listen, i thought...frankly was kind of weird. I was sort of disappointed, because it wasn't as great as i thought it was going to be. Then after the second listen, i actually grew to become fond of it. Which was my exact reaction to his first single, 'Like I Love You'. And then again for 'Cry Me a River.'

And then some of the songs on there, which in my opinion sound like they were written about a certain somebody...ahem...(no matter how much he denies it) such as 'Never Again' and 'Still on my Brain', were really depressing and dramatic. And then hearing 'Cry me a River' and 'Last Night', portray a whole different type of breakup. Which really shows you that he put his heart and soul into this album. But then Timberlake's sultry vocals and great melodies compromise for their sappy words.

Ok, so what i'm trying to say is that if you ONLY like *NSYNC type of music, i doubt you would enjoy this album. The only song you may like is 'Never Again' which was co-written by the king of love ballads, Brian McKnight. Who also co-wrote *NSYNC's 'Selfish' on *NSYNC's 'Celebrity' album. It's a beautiful ballad, that would just break your heart.
And if you're like me...very open to new music, with a very WIDE range of music tastes...a fan of The Neptunes, and Timbaland...as well as Justin Timberlake...you just might like it.

Don't be disappointed after the first listen...and give it a second chance. I think you'll come around....
you'll be up, singing and dancing before you know it.
