Special Case - But No Enhancements,
By NG (Chicago) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Justified [Limited Edition] [Digipak] (Audio CD)
The only way this "DIGI-PAK" is different from the regular CD is that the DIGI-PAK does not come in a jewel case. Instead, the CD is inside a cardboard foldout case. It still will keep your CD protected, but the liner notes fall out quite easily. For fans that will bring the cd EVERYWHERE, you're better off getting the Jewel-case regular edition because it won't damage as quickly. But for fans that have to have it all, the DIGI-PAK is a must-need collectible! Despite the title, there are no hidden digital tracks or digital enhancements. The track listing is the same as the non-Digi Pak (as follows)

First solo attempt,
By Josh Kepler (Canton, Ohio United States) - See all my reviews

I'm in the music business myself working on my album. I'm a fan of all music. I've seen Nsync perform a few times, and I own all their albums. I listen to everything. Some examples would be Nirvana, Metallica, Nsync, O-Town, Clipse, Eminem, Backstreet Boys, Nelly, Avril, Britney, and on and on of mostly R&B/Rap/Hip-Hop/Rock and Pop. Is Justified what I thought it would be? No, it's better. It's not a new sound, but old old sounds, mixed with some new sounds. It's obvious that Justin and producers Timberland and The Neptunes listened to some late 70's and early 80's music before working on this album, example, Michael Jackson. It's a good thing that Justin co-wrote all his songs. Their not breakthrough lyrics, or lyrics that you would be like, whoa, he can really songwrite, but they do the job. If your a Nsync fan, I'm sure you already have this. If your a pop fan, don't miss this great album. For everyone else, at least give it a listen before you judge it. You may be surprised. :)

Justin's debut solo,

This review is from: Justified [Limited Edition] [Digipak] (Audio CD)
Justin makes a pretty good name for himself with this new album, mimicking the sounds of Michael Jackson, like the song 'Rock your Body.' Trust me...this album SOUNDS like Michael Jackson...and that's a compliment.Personally, i thought that this album was pretty good. But that of course is considering that i am a fan of Timbaland and The Neptunes. Timberlake wasn't joking when he said that he wanted to grow more musically, and that his fans would grow up with him. This album sounds nothing like what his *NSYNC days were like. This album, at first listen, i thought...frankly was kind of weird. I was sort of disappointed, because it wasn't as great as i thought it was going to be. Then after the second listen, i actually grew to become fond of it. Which was my exact reaction to his first single, 'Like I Love You'. And then again for 'Cry Me a River.' And then some of the songs on there, which in my opinion sound like they were written about a certain somebody...ahem...(no matter how much he denies it) such as 'Never Again' and 'Still on my Brain', were really depressing and dramatic. And then hearing 'Cry me a River' and 'Last Night', portray a whole different type of breakup. Which really shows you that he put his heart and soul into this album. But then Timberlake's sultry vocals and great melodies compromise for their sappy words. Ok, so what i'm trying to say is that if you ONLY like *NSYNC type of music, i doubt you would enjoy this album. The only song you may like is 'Never Again' which was co-written by the king of love ballads, Brian McKnight. Who also co-wrote *NSYNC's 'Selfish' on *NSYNC's 'Celebrity' album. It's a beautiful ballad, that would just break your heart. Don't be disappointed after the first listen...and give it a second chance. I think you'll come around....

Justin Timberlake and Justified blow me away!,

Whew! This album is amazing! When I found out about Justin Timberlake's solo album I was a little unsure about whether I would like it or not. Then I heard the first single "Like I Love You" and hoped that the rest of the album would be that good.I got my answer: it's just as good, if not better!! Justin Timberlake's talent is made very evident in this album. If you never believed that *NSYNC or Justin Timberlake had talent get ready to sing a new tune!!! Justin co-wrote all 13 songs on Justified and I have to say that they are very impressive. Justin shows off his singing talent as well as his talent to create great music and lyrics. You will definitely dance to the fast, up-beat songs but I know that you will find yourself moving to the smooth, sleak beats of some of the slower songs (I don't know a better way to describe it! It's that great!)And the ballads- their just beautiful! Honestly! Justin also created fabulous lyrics. He uses so much imagery that many of the songs create a beautiful picture in your mind of what he is expressing. As for Justin's singing??-HOT!!!!!! I really enjoy this album and encourage everyone to run out and pick it up! I don't think that you'll be disappointed. I do have to say this: although the cd is excellent it might not appeal to younger audiences. I know that there are some very, very young *NSYNC fans who are probably excited about this album. They will probably enjoy the music but there are a few songs that have thingsthat are inappropriate for little kids. "Rock Your Body" , "Right For Me",and "(Oh No) What you got" are examples. They are good songs but I wouldn't let a six year old listen to them even if they didn't understand. "(And she said) Take Me Now" and certain parts of " Like I Love You" aren't totally clean either. Actually those five are the only songs I might be hesitant about listening to for their content.Don't misunderstand me though- these songs are not filled with the same explicit content you would hear in some rap songs. I don't listen to any rap music but I especially don't listen to cds that have parental advisorys. Don't worry, this cd doesn't have one. I just wanted to say this to let the parents know so they can have an idea of which ones they want to listen to.... OK.... I love this album and I promise that it is well worth the money. Justified could definitely be album of the year material. Justin Timberlake shows how he has grown in his music (and as an adult). Please check this album out!!!! It's great!! P.S. Make sure to listen to "Cry me a river"and "Senorita". Also "Take it from Here" and "Let's Take a Ride". Those are my four of my favorite songs on this album!!!!!!!

Justin is THE MAN when it comes to music and style. He has it all: a pretty girlfriend, platinum sales, critical RESPECT, and so forth. I'm lovin' this album! It's the greatest record of 2002, and maybe even of all time.

Justin Soars As Soloist,
By A Customer
This review is from: Justified [Limited Edition] [Digipak] (Audio CD)
At first I was a little reluctant to buy Justin Timberlake's solo project. I don't why being that I'm a huge *NSync fan. After listening to a few of the songs on my friend's CD, I decided to buy my own. I just want to say that I am truly proud of Justin for showing the world that he is more than just a pop boy-band lead singer, but he is an individual with his own style and capabilities. I commend him on his choice of producers for the album. You really can't go wrong with the Neptunes or Timbaland. He has mastered the artistry of bringing pop and hip-hop together. Alot of people were already into his music after his debut hit featuring Clipse, but he cut the cake with "Cry Me A River" with Timbaland and the bass and beat-boxing. Now everybodies going crazy over the remix featuring 50 Cent, who just so happens to be the #1 rapper in the world right now. I absolutely can't get enough of "Justified" and I can't wait until his next release.

I think that Justin's debut album is exellent. He really let his fans in on his emotions and personal experiences. The songs "Never Again" and "Cry Me A River" both talk about his break up with Britney Spears. His songs have great meaning and they each have their own unique sound. I definetely recommend Justin Timberlake's solo album to everyone of all ages. I hope you take a chance and spend a little money on Justin's album because it is ABSOLUTELY worth it!!!!!!

Justin's Solo Debut,
By Jennifer (New York, United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Justified [Limited Edition] [Digipak] (Audio CD)
Justin Timberlake's debut solo album is an excellent example of where pop music is and will be going in the future. His mix of pop and r&b sounds make this album not only something a teen girl would like but also an adult and even male listeners will enjoy. With guest spots from Timberland and the Clipse and producers working with him like The Neptunes and Timberland, this album is definitely one to remember. The lyrics are definitely much more mature than that of an *NSync album but it accurately shows his maturity as a man and an artist. This album is something you should pick up... it's totally worth the money.

MJT.,

I've never been one to jump on a bandwagon, so maybe that helps to describe my initial loathing for this album. However upon listening to this album, my leap from the band wagon just seemed to be easier. After working in a record store for 2 years and having this album shoved down my throat day in day out since its release, my contempt has only grown. I find this album to be offensive, (to music, mostly), overplayed and over gratified. I think this album has no depth, or anything that makes you want to stay up all night listening to it, unless you're on drugs, or horribly drunk and wanting to "get it on" with your ugly roommate. However I do give props to JT for successfully ripping off everything Michel Jackson has ever done, and some how claiming it for his own. And, I do have to admit the one song with male/female parts makes me jump around and dance like an idiot (providing I'm one drugs or booze). |
