More About the Author

When asked about writing, author Chautona Havig says, "Books. I love them- always have. From my earliest years, I spent most of my free time lost in a book, until one day I realized that I had stories in my heart and mind that I wanted to tell. Time passed, life, family, and work got in the way, and my dream of being a writer seemed to vanish into the desert winds.

Dreams are beautiful things, though; they never quite disappear. I began writing again, editing, writing, editing...more editing... and now I have over a hundred books in progress and a few dozen published. I write the stories of fictional people who have real problems, weaknesses, and triumphs. Through their stories, I try to share the Hope that is within me."

Chautona lives in a small, remote town in California's Mojave Desert with her husband and seven of her nine children. When not writing, she enjoys paper crafting, sewing, and the knowledge that someday she'll be able to retire from home education.

She can be found at chautona.com

If you have been reading Chautona Havig's books, you're in for a surprise with this one! One of the things that I love about her writing is the ability to take a semi-unbelievable plot line and turn it into something believable. This story starts of so out-of-the norm and just when you think you have it figured out..the plot flips over and throws you for another loop. Several times I had to remind myself that it was Mrs. Havig's writing. While she doesn't cross over into the darker horror genre that I've read, she does an amazing job at suspense and keeping you hanging right on the edge of that cliff and wondering just where you are going to end up...and my jaw hit the floor when I finally figured out who the "bad guy" really was! Unlike one of the previous reviews that says this is not her niche, I think she did a fabulous job and can't wait for the next one!

This might be one of my favorite books. This book had so many twists and turns that I was yelling at the book. Chautona Havig, in my opinion has gone into the suspense and twisted genre nicely. I can not wait until the second book comes out. I had to tell my children, and husband to leave me alone so I could finish the book. I couldn't put it down. I had to see what was happening. My favorite character was Keith. I liked how he was a Christian and didn't want to be one of those preachy ones but wanted his life to show his love for Christ. But if you are going to read this book, be prepared to get funny looks from the people around you.

I think this *might* be my favorite Chautona book, although it is hard to say. I couldn't put it down! I had to know what happened next. It was excellent!

Doing wrong things to help others. In true Chautona fashion she pulls it off so well. The tension that Keith feels as he does his job while staying true to Christ is great. I just want to know more about Keith and Erika.

Couldn't put it down - sat up half the night to finish it. Had me hooked immediately and spent the rest of the book trying to figure out all the twists and turns. Loved it - can't wait for the next one!

I finished reading this book several weeks ago, and the story has stuck with me as one I really enjoyed and will likely go back to and read again at some point. I just found this author last year and have really enjoyed everything I have read of hers. She has great voice in her novels and the characters are unique yet real. I especially like how so many of her books are intertwined with lesser characters being main characters in later novels and earlier main characters intermingling with the main characters of later novels. It really brings across the idea that every character has their own story to tell.

The story line was great and made me look forward to reading it but it seemed to get very wordy and jumbled too. Too many characters to keep track of and too many different scenes to place. ONE of the main charcaters, ('cause there are many) Erika, was just a little too negitive and "independent" for my taste. I've met some women who were totally independent but never rude or judgemental, even if she's not a Christian.
By the time I reached chapter 25 my mind was numb and reeling with confusion. If you have time and patience then give this book a try.

Seemed not to flow smoothly and left many gaps. Plot could have made for interesting reading but fell short due to this.
