5.0 out of 5 stars Looks and Comfort Plus, June 17, 2003
This review is from: Justin Classic Men's Roper Boots Pull On (Apparel)
Justin Ropers are the most comfortable boots there are out there. I wear Justin's everyday to ride in, weekends to show in, and also to just go out. You will not find a more comfortable and sharp looking combination and the affordable price of a Justin.

3.0 out of 5 stars Justin Basics are just that, February 24, 2011
This review is from: Justin Classic Men's Roper Boots Pull On (Apparel)
When I'm serious about all day wear, I'll look for something better. The Justin line has been made in China for years and the so-called Basics I just bought are completely truthful in revealing that the upper and sole are manmade. That said, the vamp and upper both look good enough in the Bay Apache color. They have weird bright white stitching (even on the black model) at the top of the sole. I used three coats of heel black applied with a fine paint brush to kill the white and make them look normal. But I've always liked the Roper look so I'm willing to work for it.

The arch support on the Basics is non-existent so that they feel like you're wearing empty Kleenex boxes. Since I'm flat-footed I assume that all my shoes will require fairly stiff arch support inserts so this didn't bother me much. The manmade uppers are not as soft as real leather so you need long socks to protect your calves from scratches, etc.

If you just want some knockabout boots that look good with jeans for a casual day or evening, these are okay. They are available at a lot of sporting goods stores, Tractor Supply Centers, etc, and they're certainly cheap. But if you expect heavy use, all day comfort, great value for you money, etc. you need to spend AT LEAST $110.00, on higher end Justins or Ariats or other big names I know nothing about. Other boot experts will say you need to spend a lot more than $110.00 and I will defer to them. If you have problem feet, consider hand-measured, hand-made from a local boot maker, but bring lots of money and months of patient waiting.

I can't imagine buying boots online without extensive local legwork to make sure of my size and comfort. Justin boots are sized MUCH larger than Ariat and when it comes to any pull-on boot, your regular shoe size is meaningless. The Justin website has a simple and helpful video about how to find the right-sized boot here [...] DO NOT accept a boot that is the least bit uncomfortable. Within days, you will be in agony and you will eventually give your boots to the Goodwill box.

Frankly, even some relatively good manufacturers and catalog houses are sloppy about their color photos on their website, so don't be sure of the color until they come out of the box. You could be in for a surprise.

1.0 out of 5 stars Falling Apart, April 27, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Justin Classic Men's Roper Boots Pull On (Apparel)
I bought a pair of Justin boots approximately six months ago, although not worn that frequently, the seams joining the front halves of the uppers to the rear are coming apart. Only the pull-on strap stitching is keeping the boots from falling completely apart. Not a very good product and contact with the manufacturer amounted to a "go away boy, don't bother us" response.
