Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

"Children and adults are bound to be entertained. . . . The experience would not be complete without Wilson's folksy, fast-paced narration."
-Chicago Parent

Combine classic Mother Goose with a south Louisiana Acadian setting and the artistry of renowned Cajun humorist Justin Wilson and the result is a captivating series of tales that will delight children of all ages. Applying his inimitable Bayou Country style to familiar stories and nursery rhymes, Wilson creates Cajun characters such as Oyster Man and Petite Rouge Riding Hood. His upbeat Cajun music and French pronunciations provide an unforgettable listening experience.

I live in south Louisiana in Cajun country. My father, who will have his 95th birthday May 1, needed a "special present". Since my father has also had a wonderful life as a yarn spinner, I wanted to send him something that he and others would remember! ......I ordered and just received Cajun Fables, and, true to his wonderful story telling style, Justin reigned supreme! My father will love this!

Justin does our Cajun heritage justice! .....His recorded tales as well as his written ones will endure for as long as the bayou flows!

I recommend this to all who live children's stories.

My favorite, Beignet Man, as well as the others put a new spin on all our wonderful children's stories.

Kathy

Don't believe everything you've been told. The old standard fables of your childhood that originated in Europe can't surpass these tales. You'll find yourself scratching your head and laughing at the same time as you read these fables.

justin wilson is a southern stable, his character allowed one to understand and appriciate a culture that values good food, good living, and wonderful stories. to compare him to amos and andy is just unfair.
he was a good man, and his role as a storyteller and cook is an important one to us in the south. and he lives on in his books, cds, and tv show, none of which slander anyone, much less the cajun people

I am a French-speaking Cajun. I resent non-Cajuns, such as this guy, writing in English and mimmicking Cajuns. The resentment is similar to that of Blacks resenting Amos 'n Andy's mimmicking of Negroes.
