4.0 out of 5 stars Great value boom in a stylish box. The jWin Boombox.
This boombox is really good! It can get pretty lound, the radio is great and there is no problem with the CD reader-it can handle CDRs and CDRWs. Also, there is an included external power adapter if you dont want to use batteries. It is pretty light and great for the beach. The white colouring is a bit too shiny (could be matt finished like the blue colour) but its ok as...

1.0 out of 5 stars Not so great
I was happy with this boombox for about a month, because thats about how long it took before it inexplicably stopped working, refusing to play any disc that I put in it.

Update (May 31, 06)
So I still use the boombox. It works good as new. Something I'd want to add is that the boombox is very durable; I took this boombox on Spring Break earlier this year. I took the boombox almost everywhere I went. By the end of the trip it had sand in it, it had been kicked around, survived many falls and just survived the whole spring break. The best part of it is that for the whole 10 period I used only one set of batteries. The sound tone and clarity was great for the whole spring break period. It was quite remarkable.

3.0 out of 5 stars you get what you pay for..., January 5, 2007

This is a functional, attractive boombox.
I bought it for a kid, and it's fine for that.
If you want clarity or good bass, keep looking. If you're just looking for a radio and something that plays cds w/o great sound quality, this is a good deal.

3.0 out of 5 stars An okay cd player for the price, September 10, 2006
This review is from: Jwin JX-CD512 Portable CD Player with AM / FM Radio (Electronics)
This isn't the greatest, but for the price it is an acceptable cd player. Actually, I think the sound quality is surprisingly good...but as far as I can tell the "bass boost" button is for decorative purposes only.
A couple of gripes:
1. I bought this to play music outdoors, at the beach, etc. and to my annoyance the lid to the cd tray lets in all manner of dust, sand, etc.
2. It's hard to tell what level the volume is on, at a glance, b/c there is no digital reading for this
3. The antenna and the plastic clip that locks it in place are both rather delicate. I usually end up busting these at some point on other radios I've owned, though, so it could just be me.

The main thing I like is how it can sit on its side for storage...it is pretty stable and takes up little space in this position.
