For Indian food out of a can, it's quite good.
Martin Emde
The is a great product and tastes great however there are 12 cans in a case and all 12 cans were dented.

I'm no low-salt puritan, but this is a *very* salty product.

TLDR: Its so good that its almost addictive. Stay away or get addicted for life.

So I am a sucker for Saag. Its my favorite food in the universe (yes for me, it even beats medium cooked steak). Unfortunately in Seattle I have had a lot of trouble finding it. Its available very rarely in some seasons.

I stumbled upon these on amazon and ordered 12 cans that arrived in two days. Here is how I made it
1.) Heated oil
2.) Fried pieces of garlic, ginger and chopped green pepper.
3.) Added red chilli pepper
4.) Added one can and let it cook for 5 minutes.

And the result is nothing short of phenomenal. The taste was so amazing that I had tears of joy. I cannot stop thinking about it and cannot stop eating. I am hooked!

All I need to do is to figure out how to order enough to last me for a lifetime.

This is a delicious meal. Well, I eat it as a meal. It, of course can be eaten as a side dish. It has two types of greens and a bit of a "bite!" You might want to put some sour cream or plain yogurt on the side. :) I will always buy this as I'm too inept and lazy to prepare the recipe myself. lol

Jyoti Natural Foods Delhi Saag, Spinach and Mustart Greens, 15-Ounce Cans (Pack of 12)
Tastes a good deal like spicy creamed spinach. Also good mixed in meat loaf, provides both nutrition and moisture. Will keep buying. Sale price made this a tremendous bargain.

You may well wonder why I gave this only 3 stars when I love it so. I could eat the whole can all by myself. I would also love it on some kid of pasta - or how about ravioli? It would be perfect over rice. Or over chicken thighs. It has a perfect blend of mild Indian spices.

It has a fatal flaw that makes me limit my intake: It is way too salty. This is not just my imagination. The whole can would have over 2,000 mg of sodium. Because of that I ration my intake.

If the manufacturer reads this, perhaps they can cut back on the salt by about 40% I imagine it would be just as good.

Also, I don't know if this is a storage problem or not, but the cans look as if they either are old or have been stored in a damp place.

Most of my family truly delights in eating JYOTi saag. It's a delicious and satisfying part of a meal. I'd feel better, however, about feeding JYOTi saag to my family if I had reason to believe that the cans don't leach BPA into the saag.

Yummy, couldn't-be-easier, vegan Indian food. I put some croutons on top for a little crunch.

I love this product, been buying it in my local store for a couple of years. It's becoming harder to find, but I'm not sure I'm ready to pay this much for it, in bulk no less.

My prep for this dish: bone-in chicken thighs & half a large onion, cooked in a pressure cooker until really soft. Pull the meat off the bones and add to the sauce with onion pieces and use a touch of the cooking water to thin it to the right consistency. Add a few tbsp. of sour cream, or yogurt, whatever you have, and a dose of garam masala or your favorite curry powder, simmer, eat on Naan.

The flavor right out of the can is good but a little acidic to my taste. I like rounding it out with all the extras. Be careful adding spicy, I feel like the heat level is inconsistent from can to can - sometimes it's really pretty spicy to begin with, and I regret the touch of cayenne I added.

I've ordered this several times over. It's great to have in the house when you don't want to spend a ton of time making something, or if you don't keep the ingredients in the house that you would use to make this from scratch. Typically when I make it, I saute pieces of chicken and onion, add the saag and then after it is all heated through, I mix in some additional sriracha sauce for more heat and some nonfat greek yogurt to make it creamier. I serve over basmati rice and sprinkle some feta over the top. My husband goes nuts for it!

Edit: I just came back to purchase this again and saw that it is now $49 and no Prime. The last time I purchased it, it was $36 with Prime. Took off a star because the value just isn't that good anymore.
