Tunes that will have you whistling, August 30, 2005

OK, first or all, I hate opera; I grew up on the Beatles and Stones. Second, even though I studied German for a semester and lived in Germany and spoke German for almost 5 years, I don't understand 90% of what is spoken and sung on these two disks. But I have to tell someone that these are the best tunes I've ever heard in a musical, and I'm straight! If you aren't whistling and humming these tunes constantly after just two listens, I'll be shocked. It's one of the greatest tragedies of Germany that something more beautiful than the "Sound of Music" can be produced and most Americans think of the malevolent "Caberet" when they think of musicals involving Germany. Buy this; you'll love it!
