Product Description

Product Features: One-piece configuration provides a uniform look and simplifies installation Elongated bowl offers comfort and convenience, extending out an extra 1-1/2" compared to a round configuration Covered under Kohler's 1 year limited warranty The Santa Rosa toilet offers exceptional functionality with a small footprint Constructed of durable, easy to clean vitreous china Installs in a floor mounted configuration Features a powerful gravity flush with AquaPiston technology Includes a seat and cover Product Technologies / Benefits: AquaPiston: AquaPiston single flush canister technology uses the force of gravity and a precision-engineered tank, bowl, and trapway to create a strong, efficient siphon during flushing. The canister flush valve's 3:2 ratio optimizes flush performance and resists warping and deterioration, while its durable design features 90% less exposed seal material than a standard 3-inch flapper flush valve, guaranteeing leak-free performance. The light-touch canister requires lower activation force than a flapper, and once activated, allows water to flow into the bowl from all sides (360 degrees), increasing each flush's power and effectiveness. Great looking toilets, easy to install and built well.

I would have to say half the time one flush is not enough, even if it is a little bit of paper.

I have used this toilet for a week now and it works great.

Its almost makes no noise when flushed & when the tank fills up.

Make sure to set tank fill setting to maximum on the float or it may be to weak when flushed.

Even when using the max tank fill it uses very little water (1.6 gallons) for those on a long term budget or who need to conserve in dry areas.

The only problem is if you are a self install DYI type.

The base of the toilet only give about 16th of an inch space between the toilet and the bolt gasket.

This makes alignment very hard and your floor needs to be very flat & level or it will rock on the gasket.

Average wax ring is about an inch thick so expect a lot of wax to "seal" every place as it is squished down to a 16th of its size.

The rough in is really 12 inches which may make it a tight fit on some installs.

Also the bottom back allows very little clearance for the water supply if it is not offset from the toilet.

Also the lip on the outside edge of the toilet makes it harder to attach the water supply and toilet seat cover.

Great looking toilets, easy to install and built well.

Toilet flushes really smooth and quite. It also fills up very fast, faster than any toilet I have ever seen. The height for sitting is roughly 16 inches. I would like Kohler to put the exact sitting (bowl seat to floor). Anyways, it is still a very well built solid toilet that flushes extremely well and the water actually covers all surfaces of the inner bowl.

For men, you will love this toilet as it is elongated and you will have no problems using "Number 1" when standing or sitting, no more messes! For woman you will also love this toilet because it is very comfortable and looks classy.

One con would be, even though the toilet has superb flushing power, for some reason, once in a while, not all of the paper gets flushed at times. It seems the "power jet" that helps to push everything out has a very short burst, so any paper that didnt get sucked out initially, sometimes get left behind. Usually the last of the paper but all solids are gone immediately. Still, not a problem as it doesnt happen often.

We installed two of these in our house and everything went smooth.

I will update as time goes by to give a better review and if anything changes.

PROS:
Looks good
Nice height
Powerful flush
Low GPF
Built well

CONS: (Not many cons)
Tiny rust spots in bottom of toilet (since cleaned)
Sometimes clogs and fills right to the rim (but rarely)
Expensive

EDIT: 12/05/13

One day after installation, there has formed many rust spots inside the bowl under the water line. No matter what I do, they will not come off. I am going to buy a pumice stone or something similar to get them off.

I bought one of these toilets last year and it started to leak from the bottom. I've installed a few dozen toilets over the years and never messed it up. The leak damaged my floor and cabinetry. I removed the toilet and noticed that the flange that the wax ring sticks to had been ground out too far, apparently as a finishing operation in the factory. Do they not have any quality control checking with their toilets?

Kohler replaced it and the new toilet is better in that flange area, but there are some defects with this new toilet-

1. The removable lid for the tank wouldn't actually seat into the flange where it is supposed to rest! I ended up using the one from the old toilet.
2. The part of the toilet behind the rim where the seat attaches isn't perfectly flat. This messes up the alignment of the toilet seat bolts so that the toilet seat doesn't sit flat on the rim.
3. The handle fell off within one week and I had to put it back on. Granted, it is only held on with a plastic nut, but it should have been assembled properly at the factory so that it would have stayed on for years.
4. The first toilet had too many areas where the shiny clear coat was barely sprayed on. The lid was almost unfinished on the bottom, as was the bottom of the toilet itself. It's as if though someone figured out how to spray the least amount of finish coat on the product just to get it out the door.

Kohler's quality has gone way down in recent years. I have one of their kitchen faucets for which they've had to replace the sprayer assembly 3 times. I'm never buying Kohler again.

I am a 55 year old woman and decided to replace our toilet myself as I figured "how hard could it be?" Thanks to all the great DIY videos on the internet, I got a good sense for what was involved before I trucked off to Home Depot. Hubby and I bought the toilet, brought it home, and I managed to do the whole thing myself in 2 hours from removing the old toilet to installing the new. The only place where I needed hubby's help was in lifting the new toilet in place. As a one-piece it's heavy and a bit awkward. After installing, we had problems with the new toilet not flushing correctly. I called Kohler and they thought it probably meant that some grit had gotten into the flush assembly when I turned the water back on. The gal walked me through the process while on the phone, I did as she suggested, and it now works perfectly. It flushes quietly and efficiently and does not leave waste in the toilet. We find the comfort height to be very comfortable. I'm now going off to Home Depot to buy 2 more to replace the other two toilets in the house. I'll be timing myself so see if I can do each in under 90 minutes! The customer service at Kohler was superb. I know people have had differing experiences, but ours has been great and it's nice to finally have toilets that work properly after fussing with our old ones.
