KOHLER K-4734-47 Rutledge Quiet-Close Elongated Toilet Seat
We've had one of these seats in our rec-room bath for many years, and just ordered another one for a powder room. It's our favorite seat, primarily because it's the most comfortable of the multiple elongated seats we own. The seat width is variable, but on average, wider than typical, providing more support. The back of the seat has a downward slope that increases comfort (see customer images). For those so inclined, you can sit on this thing longer than other seats before your legs go to sleep <G>. The seat lid is attractive and the plastic is glass-smooth, shiny, and has no visible seams. When down, the seat does not slide around on the porcelain, even a little. Installation allows two seat placement choices (½" length difference), for a longer, or shorter, toilet base. This model has a slow-close seat and lid. It takes about six seconds to silently close on its own, once you pull it away from the tank. The seat we received is NOT the quick release type. To see one in person, many Lowes stores keep them in stock, but usually only in white.

Apparently this seat can not be used with one piece toilets (tank & bowl seamlessly attached) without purchasing an expensive "anchor kit". The hardware strips & the seat slides around. After extensively discussing with Kohler customer service, I am not sure why they just don't make a different size/material nut to alleviate this problem, rather than trying to make you purchase a ridiculous kit. Basically, the plastic nut included with the seat is very poor quality.

This seat was just what the doctor ordered. I spend a fair amount of time on the hopper and have burned through many seats over the years. This baby cradles me and allows for an even more pleasureable experience. My legs dont fall asleep now until after at least an hour or so. Used to be theyd be dead and useless after 30 minutes, forcing me to throw myself off of the toilet and lay there for several minutes until I could stand again. The slow close allows for safety, of course, and also provides me with a nice subtle send off when another epic encounter is complete. Its like a wonderful mouth saying "good bye friend, we're done for now, see you soon". I love it so much I bought two extra and keep one in my office and one in my car for emergencies. Sure, its a litte time consuming removing and re-installing the buttbuster oem models here at work and in the rest areas and convenience stores but it is sooooooooo worth it. Get one! Get several!!
