More About the Author

Kenneth Von Gunden was a Penn State University professor and is still a writer. Many of his friends call him "Dr. Kenny," because he has a Ph.D. in American Culture/Film/Popular Culture from Penn State.
Von Gunden was born in Bellefonte PA (Jonathan Frakes of ST:TNG was also born there). Bellefonte, with its "Big Spring" was the fictional "Hostigos" in H. Beam Piper's novel Lord Kalvan of Otherwhen.
He discovered SF at the local library when he was about twelve years old, beginning with those big Groff Conklin anthologies and graduating to Robert A. Heinlein juveniles. Hooked, he went on to read every SF book in the library.
As a graduate student at PSU, Von Gunden assisted Philip Klass (William Tenn) in teaching one of the first SF Literature courses in the United States. It was Klass who encouraged him to write.
Kenneth Von Gunden's novels include StarSpawn (1990), K-9 Corps, (1991), K-9 Corps: Under Fire (1991), K-9 Corps: Cry Wolf (1992), K-9 Corps: Last Resort (1992), The Sounding Stillness (1993), and The Pale Companion (1994).

His nonfiction books include: Twenty All-Time Great Science Fiction
Films (1982), Alec Guinness: The Films (1987) , Flights of Fancy -- The
Great Fantasy Films (1989), and Postmodern Auteurs: Coppola, Lucas,
DePalma, Spielberg, and Scorsese (1991).

Kenneth and Donna Von Gunden have been married for longer than either
wishes to admit, and they live with two very spoiled Siamese cats,
Ripley and Emme in State College PA.

Format: Mass Market Paperback
This 3rd book is really amazing. Ray and his pack of dogs emerge from a space jump years into the future. They go back to Earth and discover that it is horrible and ruled by corrupt warlords. The genetically altered dogs once used for Scout leaders like Ray are being sold to the highest bidding warlord. Ray and his team track down the scientist responisble for the abamination in a fast reading novel that will make you want to read more. All of the K-9 Corps books are excellent. I only wish that the author would write more.
