4.0 out of 5 stars Good review of general canine structure.
I found this book to give me a better understanding of the movement of a dog in the show ring. It describes quite well the parts of the skeleton and how they relate to this movement. The full impact of the information is probably best used in a class where examples can be shown. Even with this shortcoming I found I increased my understanding and knowlege of conformation...

3.0 out of 5 stars Needs more illustrations & photos
This was a very good book, no doubt. It would have helped immensely to have more photos or illustrations of features being discussed, especially fronts & rears.
Overall I didn't find it that helpful. I'm sure the seminar another reviewer mentioned would've been really helpful where things are being demonstrated. I'm not sure I'd read this again since I'd already...

5.0 out of 5 stars ~*Highly Recommended*~, October 4, 2006
I purchased this book from the author while attending one of his Canine Structure & Movement seminars during the spring of 2006. This particular seminar was focused on sighthounds, and being a newbie to the world of sighthounds I found both this book and the seminar immensely informative! I highly recommend people interested in dog sports to purchase this book; and it will also give you a head start prior to attending one the author's seminars!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Have, October 14, 2003
This is a must have for anyone seriously concerned about breeding. Forget that, it's a must have for anyone that is breeding dogs. It's an eye-opener with an immense amount of easy to understand information. You'll learn a lot from this book. Follow it up with Tricks of the Trade by Pat Hastings and you're on your way to being a great breeder.

Overall I didn't find it that helpful. I'm sure the seminar another reviewer mentioned would've been really helpful where things are being demonstrated. I'm not sure I'd read this again since I'd already read "THE DOG IN ACTION" by Mcdowell Lyon. I found a few word-for-word matches in this book and "AN EYE FOR A DOG" by Robert W. Cole. I hope this was unintentional by both authors.

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT SOURCE OF INFO ON DOGS STRUCTURE, May 30, 2007
This is a great book for people who are not very involved with dogs and are trying to understand structure ang gait in dogs. Easy to read and well explained, this book is also a good reminder to people who already know about dog's structure. Best book yet.

Really enjoyed this book and found that I am going back to it all the time to refer to paragraphs. Fortunate to go to seminar that discussed points from the book so very keen to eventually purchase a copy. I'm sure I will gain more and more knowledge each time I read it.
