Jar lasts about 100 uses. Total junk product, October 13, 2010
This review is from: K.AID PRO BLENDER CHEFS BLENDER ONYX BLACK
This is by far the worst of the 4 Pro Line products I've purchased. From the beginning the jar spewed out bits of grease underneath, and after maybe 100 uses it leaked then totally failed. The replacement jar started cracking all around the base after 1 year, under 100 uses, maybe crushed ice 10 times. This isn't Pro anything. My old waring blender went 10 years without problems. That said it seems to work well when it works, but the jar doesn't last and to replace it costs far more than a whole new blender of many other brands and models. Looks great, but it is junk and don't kid yourself that you could ever use this in a professional setting. I gave KitchenAid several tries, and a lot of money. Never again!

Great for crushing ice, September 13, 2009
All I ever use a blender for is making slushies with crushed ice
and concentrated fruit juices. This blender is the best that
I have ever had for that purpose. It is very fast and even
though I am pulsing the switch, I am through in less than
a minute. Another 30 seconds of rinsing the jar and its done.

Excellent Blender when it worked...., February 18, 2011
This review is from: K.AID PRO BLENDER CHEFS BLENDER ONYX BLACK
I've now had this blender for 2 1/2 yrs and it's amazing. I bought it reconditioned but have had no motor issues or problems of any kind (knock on wood). As others have noted, this blender will decimate pretty much anything that the average/above average home chef might chose to put in it, with little bother. It is, however, very loud. But it's tremendous power means one has to use it for less operating time so the noise should be considered only a minor drawback/irritant. Hoping this blender continues to last and last; it seems well constructed and durable but a motor is a motor so we'll see. So far so great.
UPDATE 06/11: As several others have commented, I too have had my blender jar begin to leak oil. Clearly the seal on the bottom of the jar is compromised. Needs to be replaced. I've taken my rating down from 5 stars to 3 stars, accordingly. A $300 blender should not have a $100 part fail every couple of years.
