This is obviously a pricy product but worth every penny. This light and efficient catcher served two folds: it not only saves the bike bottom bracket from damages caused by a dropping chain on a race, but it also allows you to go on without ever having to have concerns about a chain drop... I will always have this device installed on a bike. I believe that this should come standard on all high end grouppo's.

Any bike can be subject to chain drop, and with today's carbon frames this can be fatal to your frame. The K-Edge was the first or one of the first to create a simple and effective solution to this common problem. There are cheaper versions out there, maybe not as adjustable, but if you are going to spend the coin, why not go with the company that came up with it, and keep your dollars in American pockets.

I hesitated to buy this because it's ridiculously expensive for what it is, a bolt, a washer and a bent piece of metal. But like paying an engineer to twist one valve, it's knowing how to bend that bit of metal, and that you need one is what you are paying for. ie It's the idea, and it's worth every penny! Now if you own a bike like I do that is just a tool, it gets me to work everyday, and someone says, I've got a do-hicky that will save your frame from grease and scratches, well forget it. But when you are standing next to the side of the road with your fingers covered in chain guck putting your chain back on, while a farmer's dog is chewing on your leg and someone said, "hey! for a few bucks you could have made that downshift and ridden away from that dog." What would you pay for that?!? Well a lot more than this and you'd be happy too. So save yourself some grief and grime covered fingers and a scratched frame and a missed shift and buy this gizmo. Installation is pretty easy, just remove the shift cable, remove the bolt holding the cage, replace with this thingy and the bolt they give you, put the shift cable back, and tighten everything down making sure that the bit of metal just misses everything on the inside of your chain rings. (bolts, rings, the chain.) Then test spin it before you ride away. Recommendation: Strong BUY

Used on a Titanium Road Bike.At the end of this season, I was totally irritated with my bike dropping the chain and thought I don't care what it takes I want to get this corrected by next season and by chance-I saw an advertisement on my email page anti-drop chian device, so I ordered without hesitation. I just installed it and it looks wonderful... Unless it comes loose there will no more train drops.Yea! Thus I will not look like the dope mechanic at local bike rides anymore. It's well worth the price and the security of no more greasy hands, and lost pelaton. I would like to see a full carbon version... Mostly for cool looks, cause it's already highly light. BTW-Simple to install and if you have an Carbon Fiber Frame you should have one installed to prevent that dreaded chain line in the gloss paint. Get one now!

I occasionally have chain suck that destroys the inner chain-stay area on my carbon bike, even with the protective plate. This chain catcher prevents the chain from jumping off my inner ring. I used to have to shift the chain on the back down several gears so the chain doesn't jump off, but even then it still did it. Now I can just throw the chain down the small ring on those grueling climbs and not even think twice! You have shifting confidence on the rings up front, it is awesome. Highly recommend

Tired of throwing chains when dumping from the big ring to the small on a cross bike, I found this product. Like the title says, its simple, but it works. The only change I would recommend is to apply a little loc-tite prior to installing. Its easy to adjust and once its in place its there to stay. No more thrown chains.

I installed a black k-edge on my Time VXR next to a Zipp crank and none of my ridding buddies have noticed it yet. So it blends well with the rest of the bike. I can now shift to the compact ring without considering which gear I am in on the rear cassette with the confidence that my chain will not drop. I have tested it under load and on a steep grade in the largest rear climbing gear without a failure. I Love it. Jim
