I thought this was a "lube" so I was ready for something totally different. It's definitely not a lube, but something even better! I don't generally have problems "getting there" but this added a kind of warmth that you don't get from just a lubricant. It added a nice sensation and made the climax even better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yowza!!, January 31, 2010
This review is from: K-Y Intense Arousal Gel For Her .34fl-Ounce Boxes (Health and Beauty)
I feel a wee bit guilty for what I'm about to divulge after reading so many of you reporting disappointment with this product. I would spend TWICE as much for it...it's that much of an improvement for me. I've been noticing that as I've gotten older (40's) I am more orgasmic than I used to be and enjoy sex much more than in the previous decades (what a waste of our 20-something bodies, but I digress). I'm not a big believer in marketing hype so my expectations were well managed before I gave this a solo trial run. I will only say that I could not believe how I responded to this stuff (more details than that would embarrass both of us). I couldn't wait to try it with my husband, so I applied it just before bed and off we went. Phew!! Even better. I do not know exactly how this works, but the sensation is a bit cooling (which I thought I'd dislike), a bit tingly, and then it evolves into something inexplicable. For me, it was a longing sensation that made me feel like I could not get enough. As stated here on other reviews, please be aware that this IS NOT A LUBE. Only use a pea size amount on your clitoris (though I experimented with applying it beyond to the outer parts of my vagina and that was pretty great too!). When I'm happy, he's happy. I'm happy!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Review from a Woman with MS with Sexual Dysfunction, June 14, 2009
This review is from: K-Y Intense Arousal Gel For Her .34fl-Ounce Boxes (Health and Beauty)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I am reviewing this product perhaps from a different angle. You see, I am a woman with multiple sclerosis who has lost some sexual function due to lack of sensitivity. Intimate moments can be difficult if orgasm is not possible or orgasm takes too long to attain. Although lovemaking is not a race, there is a certain progression in the process that we all expect. With MS, this progression sometimes does not happen and it can be stressful on a relationship -- even with the most patient of partners.

Surprisingly, I found that K-Y Intense helped me "feel" more and climax with the help of a vibrator. It's been about 2 years since I have been able to really feel aroused during lovemaking and it was a pleasant surprise for myself and my partner.

MS can take a toll on sexual intimacy. I would consider this product a good one for any woman who struggles with MS or any other kind of disorder that alters feeling and ones ability to feel aroused. It definitely assisted my partner in pleasuring me.

Please keep in mind that this product is not a lubricant and is used in a tiny squirt (pea sized). There are only about 20 uses in this little bottle. Don't use it as a lube, it is not meant for that purpose ... it is an "assist" to orgasm. If you need a lube, pick another K-Y product ... this will not serve that purpose and is not meant to.

4.0 out of 5 stars Its great - if you are in the 75%, May 29, 2009
This review is from: K-Y Intense Arousal Gel For Her .34fl-Ounce Boxes (Health and Beauty)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
Although the Amazon page does not say it, this product only works on about 75% of people who use it. That fact is listed right on the box. The exact words are: 75% of women who used K-Y Brand INTENSE experienced heightened arousal, sexual pleasure and sensitivity where it counts most. (I would upload a picture, but it customer images seem to be turned off right now.

For this reason, you have a 1 in 4 chance that you will just waste your money (or return it to Amazon).

This explains some of the reviews you are seeing. If you are in the lucky 75%, then yes, it will help you to have a better experience(as it did for us).

As for performance, better is better, hard to quantify it. "It" was better. Not addictive. But better. My wife said that she peaked sooner, and often sooner is better. If you know what I mean ;)

The tube itself is about 4 inches long, and comes with a nice little pouch. To be honest, i think the pouch is only included to make the product seem a bit sexier and sensual, you have to get out "the little bag of magic" instead of "the thing that looks like a tube of lipstick".

The gel itself has a slightly minty scent, and is what I would call a semi-gel... more liquid than, say, suntan lotion.

Overall, I think the KY team got it right on just about everything, except for the Amazon page where it should really say that it only works for 75% of the users who tried it...

You should still buy it, and try it, and hopefully Amazon's return policy will be generous enough to accept your return if you are in the 25%...

The reason for the detracted stars is because it lasts such a short time! This stuff costs too much for it to not last. Given the price I don't see it as being worth it. I guess it's good for once-in-a-while but not a regular addition to my bedroom.

1.0 out of 5 stars Burned to a painful degree, June 3, 2009
By
This review is from: K-Y Intense Arousal Gel For Her .34fl-Ounce Boxes (Health and Beauty)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
My husband and I have tried this twice now, and both times I had to wash it off since it started burning. We've used other "warming" lubricants before and have never had this problem before. The first time it happened, we thought that he had used too much on me, but the second time it happened again. Maybe the third time is the charm, but I'm not sure if I even want to find out!

Other than that, the packaging (cute vial and small black velvet pouch to store it in) are sexy and cute, but just be warned that it may not be for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars worth a try, May 27, 2009

As other reviewers have already covered the basics, including the over-sized packaging, the superfluous drawstring pouch, etc, I'll just get to the results.

My wife and I were fooling around, I brought out the tube, she applied 2 drops worth and...

First she felt a mild warmth, followed by a cool, tingling "minty" sensation and increased sensitivity. As we began making love, she felt more pleasure and climaxed more quickly and frequently than usual. However, the effects dissipated within about 10 minutes, after which it just felt like any other lube.

She chose to give it 4 out of 5 stars, earning 4 for the increased sensation and ease of application, but losing 1 for wearing off so quickly.

When asked for any additional comments, she said although it wears off quickly, its initial effects were quite pleasurable. In her words, "it definitely helps you get there." Based on this, she recommends it especially for women who are learning to orgasm and wish to enhance their masturbation experiences or for those who would like to add a little extra boost at the start of lovemaking.

When asked if she would want a second bottle, she didn't seem very interested. However, she did say she would be recommending it to friends.

3.0 out of 5 stars Special Goop for Her Whosis, But Not That Great, Again, October 22, 2009
This review is from: K-Y Intense Arousal Gel For Her .34fl-Ounce Boxes (Health and Beauty)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
This is an interesting product. It's to put on her, you know, special place, down there, waaay down there... Literally, from the box: "...a unique rush of the clitoris, heightening arousal, desire, and satisfaction..." We are truly sorry, but we didn't get any of this. We got some our of the ordinary cooling/heating, but nothing that got her anywhere revelatory or celestial.

Stepping back a bit before we get into the details: the folks at K-Y should be pleased because it's apparent from a good number of the reviews here on Amazon.com that consumers equate "K-Y" with "personal lubricant." That's a good thing, as it implies deep and satisfying market penetration, and wide consumer name recognition. Good on ya, K-Y. But, these advantages are not working in K-Y's favor when it comes to this product. Too many folks aren't even taking the time to read the name of the product--arousal gel--or even the instructions on the box, and they're ladling this stuff all over super-sensitive sexual terrain like gravy on a biscuit. And then they're wrongfully blaming the product for their own inattention. That's not K-Y's fault, but it's still a black mark for the product, especially in influential consumer feedback such as Amazon.com's.

So, at the outset, K-Y needs to adjust the way they are selling this product. First, its packaging is far too similar to the Yours+Mine Couples Lubricant product, with the black box and the red-violet-blue colors. Even the two products' fonts are similar. K-Y needs to differentiate this product, to differentiate between lube and its other products.

My wife and I are Amazon.com Vine K-Y veterans, having tried the Yours+Mine product a few months back. My pronouncement was that it was just not that great. As hard as we tried to really draw out of this new product something more positive, we disappointedly report that this new one also just isn't that great. We didn't really get any of the promised intensity, heightened response, dramatic climactic harmonious peakage, glorious incontrovertible transcendental orgasmo-actualization, etc.

The gel is not like a thick shave gel, but more like a thick oil, not drippy, but it will flow if you slop too much of it about. Its consistency is very much like oil, which I'm sure also adds to the unfortunate and mistaken impression of some that this is a lube. Its scent is a faint minty. This gel also is incompatible with any kind of oral explorations. At first the taste is very slightly minty, but within seconds it is flat and bitter, and it does leave an unpleasant aftertaste.

We took a shot at this product on five occasions, and really tried to make it go. In the end, all my wife really got was a modestly different--not necessarily pleasant or stimulating or intense, but definitely not unpleasant--sensation. She described it basically as the same as the Yours+Mine reaction, kind of like a very mild heat rub/menthol cooling sensation. My reaction to the Yours+Mine was that it was essentially inorganic, and that kind of added sensation was a bit to far afield for me, not natural and therefore off-putting. It wasn't unpleasant, but it didn't really heighten anything.

Our experience was this was that it was more distractive than anything else. My wife experienced it as mostly cooling, with a little bit of heat in the sensation. She described this as "unnatural." We experienced no burning or other problems, but while not unpleasant, the reported sensation was out of the ordinary, and instead of light-speed rocketing to alternate dimensions of corporeal ecstasy, it was just a diversion from the well-practiced event. My wife did not experience increased intensity, no increased arousal, no earlier release, or increase in desire or satisfaction. As the man in this equation, I don't know whether I should be happy it didn't supplant me, or disappointed that I didn't help take her somewhere new.

This tiny product comes in a pretty big box, much like the computer software of 1 CD and a pamphlet in a package the size of a college textbook. One has to wonder how much of this product's price is simply to cover its packaging. So, K-Y: go with something like "tiny vial, big sensation," or, like jewelry, "every woman loves to receive a tiny black package...," "like nitro, use sparingly," something like that. K-Y: Use this product's size as part of its marketing strategy.

Others have noted the little black pouch, a vey sensuously soft black, with a double black drawstring and a delicate embroidered "K-Y" in silver thread--neato! I have to agree. Maybe the pouch is for travel, when one wants to be discreet and private. Or, more likely, the pouch lends an aura of the hidden, secretive, mysterious and naughty to what no doubt is a very finely tuned chemical product honed in years of laboratory and clinical testing. As anyone knows, there is money to be made from you-know-what, and if you can make it just a little bit more naughty, while at the same time being straightforward, striking the balance between the adult and mature discussion of a topic of mutual interest and the downright filthy, then there is even more money to be made.

You get roughly 20 applications in the roughly Chapstick-sized tube. Now, some have complained about the price, but at a little over $1 per application, this is not unreasonable.

Bottom line: More than anything, read the box, people--know exactly what you're smearing on your whosis. My wife and I did, but we just didn't get its hoped-for results. This new and innovative product was not a failure, nor was it unpleasant. It just didn't work for my wife the way it was intended. Your results may vary.

This works really well for my wife and me. We're both 68 and it provides just a little extra oomph for her.

But the container is very small and you use only a small amount, so it's hard to know when it's running out, and you certainly don't want to break the mood by having that happen.

So.... I made sure a container was completely empty and weighed it (without cap or little bag) on a gram scale.

9 grams, empty. And a single 'dose' seems to be about 1/3 of a gram.

You're welcome.

1.0 out of 5 stars Awful!, June 13, 2009
This review is from: K-Y Intense Arousal Gel For Her .34fl-Ounce Boxes (Health and Beauty)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I requested this item from the Amazon Vine program expecting it to be similiar to lubricant. I had recently run out and thought "Now, that's convienient!" I was wrong of course and didn't use it as lubricant but when I did try it out, I immediately threw the bottle out afterwards.

When me and my husband went to bed that night, I tried it out. The bottle itself is tiny (about the size of a perfume sample bottle) and while it does have a fun pump top to it, you do have to use two hands. One to grip the bottle and one to use the pump since it was hard to press fully down. The gel itself is odor-free (I did like that) and glides on gently when you follow the full instructions on the back.

After the application, the disappointment set in. As I was testing it to see what it would do, I felt a lightly coldness spreading through my genitals. It was odd.... as if someone had pressed a cold wash cloth to my crotch. The more I laid there, the more uncomfortable I got. As the coldness spread, it started feeling more and more like a fire. The coolness changed to heat (like icy-hot gel) and as it got hotter, I started to get very uncomfortable. I stuck through it though in the name of research but I found that when my husband rubbed me, I couldn't feel it at all! It didn't heighten my awareness... IT DEADENED IT!

In the end, I ended up having to wash it off because I was too uncomfortable. My hunsband and I tried to make love anyway but it was the first time in our marriage that I didn't orgasm. I couldn't feel anything in order to orgasm.

The worst part of the experience? KY claims this product is hypo-allergenic but the next day, I had a rash all over my nether regions!
