Marji Mendelsohn, writing under the name K. C. BOYD, grew up in Ohio back in the day when religion was a personal thing. Decades later, Mendelsohn awakened to a world where a growing number of radical right-wing Christians were quietly praying for the world to end so that Jesus Christ would return.
After the 2004 election demonstrated too much acceptance for this extreme Christian worldview among the right-wing, Mendelsohn embarked on a strange and often frightening exploration of the far-right; attending evangelical services and conferences across the United States. Concerned about the increasing danger from mixing politics with end-times Christianity, she realized it was time to expose what she saw using fiction to convey her warnings. The result, born of close observation of key personalities, is Being Christian.
