I figured maybe I just thought it would be bigger in my mind.

The question I have: Why would I bother to dig through the box for a disc with two songs on it when I have the music already downloaded on my computer, etc?

I knew it would be pricey but to have all the singles, B-sides and remixes at once?

Let me preface this review by stating that I am a long time Kylie Minogue fan. I have enjoyed her music since she released "The Locomotion" back in '87 and even bought her debut album on cassette. Since I live in the United States, keeping up with Kylie's career in the pre-internet days was virtually impossible because the majority of her music has not been heavily promoted or released here. When Fever became a semi-hit here and the internet came along, I finally got my mitts on Kylie's back catalog. I have been collecting Kylie merchandise ever since. As a collector, I'm no stranger to paying a stupid amount of money for imports, deluxe CDs or even "rare" items. If the item is good, I'll just wince at the amount but pay it anyway because once you start collecting, it's hard to stop.

When I read that Kylie was releasing a box set of all her singles to celebrate her 25 years in music, I was overjoyed. I knew it would be pricey but to have all the singles, B-sides and remixes at once? Yay! I shopped around, found the best price I could and bought it. After two weeks, a small package arrived in my mailbox. I had no idea what it could be because the only thing I ordered was the Kylie box set. Surely this tiny package didn't have my box set in it. Oh yes, yes it did.

While I was aware that the discs included in this set are those 3-inch discs, I really didn't expect the whole thing to be so small but hey, I can deal with a teeny tiny box set if it were jammed packed with 25 CDs with all the B-sides and remixes. Well, strike two because this set contains no B-sides or remixes - just the singles which have been released and re-released on numerous Greatest Hits albums (seriously, Kylie has a TON of Greatest Hits albums). The original artwork also isn't there.

I recently received my Kylie Minogue Time Capsule and was really disappointed! After reading the hype and excitement about this item I was looking forward to it's release. Upon receiving it, I was a little shocked by the size of the package. Opening it, I was even more shocked by how small the actual size of the box was. I figured maybe I just thought it would be bigger in my mind. Then I opened it and was really surprised. From the description I thought this would house 3" cds of ALL the singles Kylie has released from the beginning of her career to now (similar to the ones Britney Spears released awhile back or the rare Japanese set that Madonna released years ago.) Nope...this set only included 25 singles from Kylie's career and the worse part is the artwork. We do not get full color reproductions of each covers front and back, but smaller black and white versions with big black borders around them and NO back art. I also must mention that only one song is on each cd (no b-sides or remixes). I think this was truly a mistake in how this was put together. The price should also not be as high as it is since not all the singles were included. While I love Kylie and think she has done a great job celebrating her 25 years in the business, this is one misstep that should have been repackaged. This could have been a stellar item!

If WEA really wanted to impress, the company would have released Kylie's top-selling singles and their remixes. The Girls Aloud set released a few years back did exactly that; all singles were accompanied by their mixes--some of which had been difficult to find. Although I admire Kylie and have followed her career from the beginning, why would I shell out a lot of money for songs I already own? There are two songs on each mini-disc--one on the last disc--and the box itself not nearly as large as the pictures would have you believe. (Makes sense, right? Mini-discs...mini-box.) The question I have: Why would I bother to dig through the box for a disc with two songs on it when I have the music already downloaded on my computer, etc? In short, this item will do nothing but sit on the shelf. Not sure this dust collector is worth it. A rather lame way of celebrating Kylie's marvelous career.

Celebrating a quarter of a century in music, "Time capsule" presents Kylie Minogue's undisputedly huge career in an usually small, yet, exquisitely elegant black box. The concept behind it was to create a stylish miniature box featuring Japanese-like mini discs, and so "K25" presents 25 of Tiny Queen's singles on equally tiny 3" pink-coloured CDs, sporting black and white covers, chronologically ordered, cased in a sturdy glossy box black on the outside, and pink on the inside. Unveiling Kylie's seemingly endless string of hits, from 1987's irresistably cheezy poppiness of "Locomotion", up to her latest, the sophisticated electro-pop brilliance of "Timebomb", this is an ideal purchase for everyone who wants to add some of the best pop music ever created to their CD collection (plus, it is claimed to be a limited release which makes it extra appealing). Only disappointing absence from such a marvellous retrospective package is an accompanying mini book with info and photos that would greatly compliment it. Still, this is a wonderful memorabilia especially for "all the lovers" of Kylie. More than just a lavish greatest hits package, this time capsule is precious in its own right. Just like Kylie herself, "K25" is petite, yet gorgeous; ordinary, yet priceless.

Tracklisting:

01. Locomotion / I should be so lucky
02. Got to be certain / I still love you (Je ne sais pas pourquoi)
03. Especially for you (with Jason Donovan)/ It's no secret
04. Hand on your heart / Wouldn't change a thing
05. Never too late / Tears on my pillow
06. Better the devil you know / Step back in time
07. What do I have to do? / Shocked
08. Word is out / If you were with me now (with Keith Washington)
09. Give me just a little more time / Finer feelings

Kylie Minogue K25 Time Capsule Box Set
Were your covers marked at all? received mine on Friday last week and the front of most of the covers appear "scratched" or marked.....wondering if this is just a manufacturing fault or something that happened during postage....
