I've used it several times to travel inside Venezuela. It has a clean reception. It's very easy to install and to put it off when you're not using it, leaving the mount on. I've been on the beach, the dunes, rives (crossing rivers) and It's worked quite good. I'd buy again.

Talk about awsome. This antenna combined with a 4 watt midland CB can transmit over 15 miles. It the most durable antenna I have ever seen as well. This is the best antenna you will ever get

I think the k-40 is the best cb antenna going.I have used a k-40 since 1977 & it is the best.

I had to lower the rating to 4 stars because of dealing with ACE PHOTO DIGITAL. The product itself deserves 10 stars.
I have owned one of these antennas before (about 17 years ago). I knew how it should perform and was not shocked but pleased that it still works like the old one did.
The antenna was easy to tune with an SWR meter. It looks good on my Jeep. I made a fender bracket for it that keeps the height down so it fits in my garage. Although I do have a tall garage door and ceiling.
I still have to remove it for parking garages but that is made easy by the fact that this antenna has a quick release form the base. I am taking a chance of getting it stolen with where I have it mounted as it is in easy reach. Again, this is also not a worry as all I have to do is give it a quick turn and it comes off so I can store it inside my vehicle. The Quick release, though easy to use, is tight enough that I don't worry about it coming undone while I am driving.
I lot of guys don't like the whip style antennas for off road because they like to stand way too close to vehicles as they go under trees and over rocks where it is dangerous to be anyways. The mast is flexible enough that I can bend it back and tie it off to my rack and it springs back to straight when I untie it.
I am pleased with the over all look, and performance of this product and have thought about buying another one as they are getting harder to find.
I had some issues with the company I bought it from (ACE PHOTO DIGITAL) so if you can find it elsewhere even for a little bit more, buy it there. I was fooled by the decent reviews of this company, but I only have to assume that those people that gave them good reviews, didn't actually have to deal with there VERY unprofessional customer service department. They will yell at you, belittle you and not listen to your issue. Again, DO NOT BUY THIS OR ANYTHING ELSE FROM ACE PHOTO DIGITAL!!!

I've used the K40 for years. I had it mounted as a base station antenna before I upgraded to an Antron A99. It was mounted on my vehicle for years using the magnet mount until someone stole the coil of my trunk. It's a great antenna, and in my opinion, beats out the wilson competetitor model. (Wilson 1000 I think) I easily got 5 miles of range in a congested town. If you can find one of these antennas for sale, (K40 is more about radar detectors than antennas these days) then buy one!

My Packaged arrived yesterday Not very happy. Mine also like the other customers the Whip was missing, I did have a hard time in getting a hold of a customer service staff member I kept trying and help I received. The Correction was made by a very nice customer rep of Cnergy Ventures and I received the replacement missing stainless steel whip as promised.

a few over the years). The range with this thing is incredible!!! (fined tuned it
with my own SWR meter) My hats off as well to Apex Suppliers. Prompt, quick,
delivery. Overall - a very good shopping choice.

this antenna is awesome great range and receve im getting a good 20 miles with a stock cobra 29 nwst

This is a classic antenna and it works as advertised. I've used many of these over the years and they've all worked very well for me. Great SWR and power handling and it's nice to be able to take off the whip for secure storage when needed.

Im sure its a great antenna. It dont come with a whip and the one I got was obviously used and it has stripped whip set screw threads...thanks a lot seller. Id send it back but I need it now so I'll have to tap out the thread hole, find a new set screw and find a whip too.

Ive been outfitting my car with a trunking scanner and a CB. Im faced with the most dishonest sellers ever lately. I would find someplace else to find mobile radio equipment if I were you, Im getting hustled left and right trying to buy this stuff. So, beware.
