4.0 out of 5 stars Nice laptop for the price, January 11, 2010

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: ASUS K70IJ-C1 17.3-Inch Black Versatile Entertainment Laptop (Windows 7 Home Premium) (Personal Computers)
Got this laptop from amazon almost a month ago (with a lower price than the current one) and so far so good. Turned it on when I first received it and let the ASUS ran the initial setup (that took a while). Then, off Windows 7 and on Ubuntu 9.10 (64bit). Everything is working fine except the webcam is upside down (one star off) so I needed to place a patch to reverse the image back to right side up. Also got the Logitech VX Nano cordless mouse to pair it with this laptop.

If you're looking for a nice laptop and don't care much if it doesn't come with an nVidia graphic card, then this is a nice laptop. Fast and bright. Will receive a long HDMI cable (also from amazon) in the next few days to connect it to my tv. Don't think that would be a problem to get it to work.

Now, I just need to get a wireless printer (to replace the old HP 712C) so I can print from this laptop anywhere in the house.

4.0 out of 5 stars correction, February 6, 2010
This review is from: ASUS K70IJ-C1 17.3-Inch Black Versatile Entertainment Laptop (Windows 7 Home Premium) (Personal Computers)
Actually the above person should blame INFERIOR Ubunty rubbish for reversing Webcam, and not Asus, not Windows. To replace Windows7 with Ubuntu, one has to have brains fried or come from some thrid-world cheap country, that's where Ubuntu finds "market".
Webcam issue is Ubuntu issue, not Asus, not Windows.

I'd take 1 star off anyway, BUT for a completely different thing:
no nVidia Graphics card. No amount of Intel claims can compare to a real discrete Graphics card, and nVidia is best - that i smy opinion as a CAD Engineer and some Graphics design people.
Also no FAX - how would I send FAX's which are STILL in use because unlike Email FAX is hard to spam, and most companies still use FAX's, and if it wasn't for a FAX modem I wouldn't get a job at my previous company. Emails are often ignored, you can't ignore a paper slowly emerging from your phone/fax!!

Asus please keep FAX/modem in, if no space - remove one USB, 3 USB's is enough and one can use a USB hub if you're really so wired up.
As of wireless - that increases brain cancer risk.
Don't believe me? Don't care. If you look at 1920-1950's movies, most gentlemen & ladies SMOKE, because they didin't beluev smoke cuases cancer. SO keep printing wirelessly, good luck and install wireless hubs in your house, then goto a doctor - you will!
