Although perhaps not as handy as one of the multi-tools, this knife inspires user confidence. The blade is thick and the steel is incredibly hard.

For example, I was unsatisfied with the sharpening done at the factory. The edge is a little rough out of the box. I made the mistake of trying to smooth the edge using a whetstone. After about a half hour, the blade still looked the same as it did when I started. Man, that's hard steel! Finally, I took it to the guy who runs the knife shop at the Ft. Bragg mini-mart, and he put a beautifully smooth and very sharp edge on it using a table grinder, for only $1.

Unlike a lot of other fighting-style knives, the tang of the blade comes all the way through the handle, making it even stronger. Some people might say I ruined it by having it sharpened, but I don't care. I'm not a collector, I'm a user.

This KA-Bar feels right. Its super hard material should withstand severe use in survival ops. The blade is thick and sturdy and the weight makes it strong. The seven inch length is excellent for most activities.
Like the LT, I suggest sharpening before serious use. This is a weapon for use, not display.

This knife is a godsend for anyone who loves cutlery. as soon as i held it, i could feel how perfectly weighted and balanced it was, and how sturdy it was. It came sharp, and included a catalogue and sheath. The steel is tough and difficult to sharpen, and the sheath is leather and stamped nicely on the front. The handle of my knife is starting to smell like beef jerky because of the leather, but that's a good thing. I haven't really used it for much, as i am trying to keep it nice... but it's definately a prestigeous blade.

I ordered this knife so that I could send it to my nephew, a US Army Airborne Ranger serving in Afghanistan. He LOVES it!!!!

I ordered two of these knives and they both were shipped very fast (about 3 days from when I ordered them). However the quality control on these is not great. One knife came in perfect condition, the other knife had a scratch on the blade. The leather handle was not smooth and shiny like the other one, had an odd odor, and was kind of rough. This left me to believe this particular knife had been used. I ordered both of these knives new. So it seems it is hit and miss with this product. Good value for the money though. I didn't bother with sending that one knife back for a refund or replacement because I didn't want to bother with shipping.

this knife is beautiful its full tang so no worries about it getting loose in the handle like most cheaper knives. not to heavy not to light and the sheath is great looking

This is a really good knife for felling trees up to 3" and being able to do all of the bigger tasks you can't do with a folder. The best thing about it is the weight and the thickness of the steel which ensures that it is rock solid. My only complaint is the finish on the blade is wearing off slightly after a short time of use, so I emailed the KA-BAR people and they said I can send it in for an exchange now or at any time I want due to the Lifetime Guarantee. For the moment I'm not sending it in because I don't know what I will do without it. The reason I give this 5 stars and not four is due to the fact that no one else I've read a review fro m has had this problem.

Update: More of the finish has worn off. Still not going to send it in. I really think it is just mine that is having this problem. Great knife.

This is a very high-quality knife, being extremely well made with a nice balance (just behind the guard) and comfortable handle (beautiful leather). The knife came sharp and holds the edge very well. The leather sheath is well made also. I always wanted one of these when I was in the Army, and now I have it. Hoo-rah!

I am totaly impressed with this knife. The finish is perfect, and it has a razor sharp edge and hard steel. I was especially impressed with how soon I recieved the knife after I ordered it. Ordered this knife a few weeks ago. It came pretty fast, no complaints with shipping. Was very sharp right out of the box. Nice, thick blade and sharp point. Should stand up to a lot of use. Very satisfied with it, it is definitely worth the price.
