I recently purchased the Kaplan SAT Verbal Workbook. Having also used the Princeton Review Verbal Workout and found their amount of practice exercises to be abstemious, I was delighted by the cornucopia of valuable questions in Kaplan.

Also, they use better quality paper than The Princeton Review and are cheaper! All and all, this is an excellent piece of work. Moreover, it contains two full-length verbal tests with detailed explanations of every exercise in the entire book!

The Princeton Review is a worthy workbook but is a prosaic predecessor of the the Kaplan SAT Verbal Workbook.

If you have the time and the money, buy both today. If you really only have the appetence to purchase one book, buy THE KAPLAN SAT VERBAL WORKBOOK! It's not just a putative necessity for the SAT writer; it is the definitive piece in SAT verbal workbooks.

As usual, Kaplan has come through with a trustworthy guide to the SAT. In this instance, their coverage of the verbal section of the SAT is detailed and easy-to-follow. Though I feel that the verbal section is my strongest on the SAT, I still benefited from all the drills and exercises contained in this book. Certain to be of great help to everyone considering taking the SAT and a good complement to other, more comprehensive SAT books.

The sections are layed out and written like as if you were taking the SATs then and there in this book. Excellent. But the greatest plus is that the paper it's printed on is great; none of that cheap yellowing rice-paper thin paper Princeton uses. Great stuff. And the paper's pretty flimsy (yet still unusually strong) so you can bend the pages back without creasing the spine. Ordinarily, the aesthetic value of the book, unfortunately, is what matters in the end to me. If it looks terrible, I just won't do it, just lose the energy. Can't really explain that, but the last line is you HAVE to get this book at the very least for the SATs.
