This my first review for anything I've purchased on Amazon.
When I got the Kavaj leather cover, in brown, there were things I liked and things that concerned me about it.
While happy with the look, size and feel, I was concerned about the protection it afforded and whether it would stand up to hard use.
At this point I would have rated it 3.5 stars.

The journey began.....

I bought an Incipio case, used it for a week and went back to the Kavaj.
Did not like having the phone's screen unprotected, and I have never been good at applying screen protectors.

I bought an Otterbox.
Liked the protection, hated the feel in hand and the bulk in pocket.
Went back to the Kavaj.

I bought a Pad and Quill book.
Loved it...really loved it.
Loved the look, the feel in hand and the protection it afforded the Iphone.
Used it for two weeks and went back to the Kavaj.
Did not like the additional bulk in my pocket, and the need of using and undoing the elastic strap that keeps the book cover closed.

I bought the Lunatik Taktik.
Liked the techy look and the roll-a-car-over-it protection.
Hated the bulk, the feel in my hand, and the weight.
Looked forward to going back to the Kavaj.

I bought a handmade, top-grain leather, wallet type cover.
Loved the look and the protection.
Used it for two weeks and went back to the Kavaj.
It was too bulky in pocket and the snap on the cover became a pain to use and undo.

I bought a handmade leather, flip type cover, from Poland.
Absolutely loved the look and the soft feel of the leather, and the compliments from everyone that saw it.
Got tired of the loose fit, and pulling the phone out of the case to charge it.
After two weeks, went back to the Kavaj.

The Kavaj has held up to heavy use, has adequately protected the phone, and still looks good. It gets it's own share of compliments.
It fits well in my pocket, with no additional bulk or weight.
The cut-outs are all dead on, and the magnets hold the cover down with enough strength.
It feels good in my hand.
And it has forgiven me for all the switching around I did to end up coming back to it.

Based on the above experiences, I now rate it 5 stars.
I'm keeping the P&Q book and the handmade covers, giving away or selling the others.
But I'm using the Kavaj...happily.
The journey is over and I'm home to stay.

I simply cannot. I love the leather and I certainly love the style of the case but there are a few things about the case that just simply does not cut it for me..

First.. The cut outs for the bottom of my iPhone 5 just do not match up.. As much as I try to get them to line up they just wont. This makes it very difficult for me to attach the charger at night. Granted it does fit, but not without a few adjustments first. For the price, I just feel that it should not require an adjustment to get the charger to fit.

Second.. The case has already started to have stitching unravel.. The case hasn't fallen apart or anything, but again, for the price of the case, I feel that this should not be an issue.

Do not get me wrong... I think it is probably the best case on the market if you are searching for a GENUINE leather, wallet, flip, iPhone 5 style case. Im sure I just received one with a couple flaws/defects, and for $30, its not practical to rush and buy another one whenever I already have one.

Do i recommend it? YES
Do I love it? WANT TO
Will I live? YES
Will I use the case? YES

I purchase iPhone cases often to review and this one hits the mark. It is slim, feels great in the hand, a quality case product. If you are searching for a leather case that is thin and adds the functionality of holding cards, this case is for you. Most cases in this category end up being too bulky, are a pain to close and sometimes do not close at all, and are not practical as a card holder. This case, with its magnetic lid closure, and quality materials is able to live up to the expectation of a quality case while being able to carry cards and money.

Pros:
Leather
Leather stitching
Thin lid with magnetic closure
Overall thin body
2 slots for cards, proven ability to hold up to 4 total

Cons:
Lid can be tricky to close quickly at first
Unproven ability to last over time
Poor Packaging

Hope this proves helpful if you are considering this case.

Case looks exactly as in the images. The fit is perfect, all button are accessible including being able to charge with the case on. Leather feel soft and smooth. Delivery was prompt and price for a genuine leather is reasonable.

Leather material keeps a slim profile, all leather & no plastic snap-ins. Because the leather is thin, it does not get in the way of flash photography. The external card slots are handy. Very good craftsmanship. Excellent purchase.

I have owned many a case; Otterbox (too bulky), Lifeproof (not screen responsive enough) Speck (great, but wears terribly) and many numerous cheap brands that never offered the right protection or look. I wanted something that would be sleek but not boring, stand out but not be a friggin' bunny or have a bajillion rhinestones, offer great protection but still be able to slip in and out of my jeans pockets easily.

So I got the Kavaj, in cognac. It was a little darker than I expected, but the color is still beautiful and rich. It also took a few days for the leather to warm up and move in order for the magnet to stay closed once my phone was is, but once it did it has been fantastic. I really enjoy the freedom of being able to grab my main credit card and ID and pop out of the door. As a busy mom with 4 kids, it's easy for me to forget things (especially my purse!) but I never forget my phone so I always have the staples with this case. Also, being that frazzled mom, I appreciate having less to carry so that I am more agile in grabbing kids quickly and shuffling them in and out of the car without the extra bulk of my purse.

The looks are gorgeous and I've received so many compliments already! It's so sleek and well designed which helps very much in making me feel less frazzled and more put together. (Another BIG plus, IMO) This color is easy to find while still being neutral and classy. I can't tell you how many times a black case has made my phone invisible to my quick scanning eyes!

I hardly review (which is terrible of me since I rely so heavily on reviews in my decision making) but I love this case enough to devote a few paragraphs to singing its praises. I'll re-post if anything goes wrong but unless that happens take my silence as me being happy as a clam and going about my business. :)

The metal insert that they use to add rigidity to the case and give the magnetic front something to magnetize to has sharp edges and has completely sawn its way through the open face of the case. So the metal frame is now completely exposed and loose and strangely won't hold the case closed. Plus, it looks like crap when I open my phone to answer it. It seems like such a silly thing for KAVAJ to space out on. If they had just beveled the metal frame it wouldn't have acted like a saw and cut through the beautiful leather so completely. I bought this case on Feb 5th, so I am pretty annoyed that this is one of my shortest lived phone case purchases EVER when I had previously been of the opinion that this case and I were in it for the long haul. Quick to fall in love, quick to fall out. KAVAJ, if you would just address this issues with a rounded edge on your metal you would prolong the life of this otherwise great product exponentially. Sad to HAVE to give it 1 star, but since it doesn't function well or look good anymore, I can only give it a star for the nice leather. (Plus, it's the lowest I can go.

After a few days i must say, i love this case. It offers all around protection and keeps the slim profile of the iphone5. If your a guy like me who keeps your phone in your front pocket, then this is the case for you. Great design, solid construction. Recommended

I purchased this for my iPhone 5. When I first purchased this product, the stiching started coming apart and the magnets did not work. Before I could call KAVAJ customer service, they called me to see how I liked the item. I explained the problems that I was having and the representative said that they would send me a replacement. I received my replacement and have not had any problems. If the leather gets light scratches, I clean with leather conditioner/cleaner and it looks like new. This cover is very professional and I have received many compliments. I would highly recommend this product and will definitely buy from KAVAJ again.
