This is a GREAT case if you:

1. Are looking for a minimalist case that will offer some protection against drops and bumps
2. Trying to find something that compliments the iPhone's look
3. Trying to find something that makes the iPhone more grippy
4. Are looking for a GREAT fit
5. Want to spend less than $20 (although it is better than my $40 case)

FINAL NOTE: The material is not like that super soft jelly silicone stuff. And it is not like super hard plastic either. Somewhere in between--which I like.

Update: I pre-ordered this case, so it may have been part of an early batch. Some other reviewers have said that some things aren't accurate anymore (e.g., new ones have ugly "KaysCase" branding).

The soft skin case is the best you can get for the price. It's not "sticky" like many of the silicone ones and won't attract dust in your pocket as quickly as them. It fits snugly on the iPhone 5 but was not difficult at all to install. The case's edge on the front seems to protrude just enough to prevent damage to the screen in case of a drop onto a flat surface. (However, I can't say for sure because I'm not willing to test this. :p) The molding is not exactly perfect, but at least it doesn't impair usage of any of the buttons or switches on the iPhone. The power/lock and volume up/down buttons are covered while the mute switch and headphone jack + speakers + Lightning port along the bottom are completely open. The case feels more solid than most other soft ones I've seen, yet it doesn't add much weight to the phone. I bought both the hard and soft versions of this case and went with this one in the end; hopefully it'll absorb more of the impact in the event of a drop. The section where the mold is cut could have been in a more inconspicuous spot than a random segment along the outside left edge of the back of the phone, but it's not easily noticeable. Another thing to note is that there is no annoying branding anywhere. It doesn't affect my rating of the product's effectiveness, but this piece of info might be useful for people like me who hate how many other case manufacturers try to rebrand the phone by putting a logo on the case.

The seller was one of the first to offer an iPhone 5 case, a full week before the iPhone 5 launch. They ran a promotion for about 85% off their regular price, and they promised launch-day delivery (Sep. 21), which I was very skeptical about. However, lo-and-behold, a few hours after UPS dropped off my iPhone 5, USPS had delivered my KaysCase. Although the case is a tight fit around the phone, it's a perfect fit that goes on without scratching the aluminum sides. The left and right bumpers of the case are hard plastic, while the back/top/bottom are rubber-ish TPU. The backside has been "sanded" to make it non-stick (it won't turn your pocket inside-out when you slide the phone out since it doesn't grip anything). The sides of the case wrap around the front by a millimeter or two, so you can put your phone face-down without scratching the front. I ordered two custom cases from SkinIt, but now I'm considering cancelling that order since SkinIt doesn't even know when they'll be able to start manufacturing their cases (I ordered it because they had a buy-1-get-1-free pre-order sale). I'm extremely surprised at the quality, fit and fiish on this KaysCase. If I decide to use my SkinIt case when it comes in, this would make a good gift to someone else since it honestly feels like a case that costs about $15 or more.

Previous reviews for this case were quite good, so I thought I'd give it a go.

Unfortunately, this product appears to have changed in from previous reviewers' descriptions.

CHANGES FROM PREVIOUS REVIEWS
--Kay's Case branding now featured on the back-previous reviewers have stated that this case does not have any branding, but mine did. I don't need to be advertising the manufacturer of this case with its unappealing font.
--Poor molding-the case does not have straight lines from side to side and top to bottom
--Shiny material used in construction-really deters from the look of the 5 (especially in black)
--NOT TRANSPARENT!-The black colored case pictured on amazon appears to have see-thru (you can clearly see the apple logo in the photo), but the actual case is very opaque and is a very solid black color. You will not be able to see the Apple logo, if that's important to you.

VERY DISAPPOINTED.

Worse yet, no Amazon prime, so I have to PAY RETURN SHIPPING to get this cheap thing out of my house.

Warning. Not as described and not as well-constructed as previously reviewed.

I ordered the product the same day I preordered the iPhone 5 (and before the schematics were released by Apple), so obviously my purchase was based on hoping it was the right one. It is. Very light weight. It covers the front frame of the phone. No problems with headphones at all. Great buy.

I have a story to tell about this case that even I am having trouble believing. My wife got up at midnight on the first night we were allowed to order the iPhone 5, so I got my very first iPhone on Friday Oct 21st. I'd ordered another Kayscase cover for my phone and this one came for free with that order. I never expected to use this case, but I got it in the mail with a letter saying the case I'd ordered and expected to use was still unavailable. I'd only intended to use the other case as a temporary case until I could find a better permanent case, so I was happy that the company sent me this one so my precious new phone would have some protection. I still haven't gotten the main one I'd intended to use.

I came home from my daily morning walk last week and I went into the bathroom to wash my hands. I had my iPhone in my pocket with my headphones on. The headphone cord caught on one of the knobs in the bathroom and yanked the phone out of my pocket and flipped it into the toilet!! (Fortunately the toilet was "clean.") I dived into the toilet and pulled my phone out, but it had been submerged. I was in a panic. I dried the face off and then took the case off to dry underneath it. I assumed that the water would be under the case. To my amazement, the phone was completely dry under the case! The front edge fit tightly along the screen protector and kept all the water out of the body of the phone.

I turned my phone off and put it into some uncooked white rice until I could get some silica gel to put it into. I got some gel that night and put the phone into an airtight container with the gel for three days. I started the phone up today, hooked it up to iTunes, reactivated it with Verizon and everything is working so far.
