This updated version of the original JamC@m sports a better picture resolution, which is now 640 x 480 dots per inch. While this is a marked improvement over the Barbie camera or the Little Tikes model, the resolution is still far from perfect. The camera's appearance has also changed to a slicker style that will appeal to both kids and grown ups. Packaged with Microsoft Picture It! 99, the camera can take up to 48 low resolution pictures, or eight higher resolution pictures in the 640 by 480 size. Another nice upgrade is the way the camera plugs into the USB port. We found the software to be hard to use when we tried to transfer the pictures from the camera to the computer- we had to refer to the instructions in order to clear the camera's memory. By downloading some software from the Internet, we were able to successfully get the camera working on a Macintosh, through the USB port. Considering the price, this is a pretty good camera, but for an even better value, see the Intel PC Camera Pack which can take pictures with similar resolution, as well as record video.
